The last cop that pulled me over gave me warning. I was going 72 in a 47, I definitely should have got a ticket. Thanks Mass Statey.

Yeah I got off with a warning last time I got pulled over. It was like a 35 speed limit and the police officer said he was going 60 and still couldn't catch up with me.

I told him I was sorry and that I was running late for work and he let it pass. This was in 2014 but I really appreciated that.

I dunno. It would be a lot more interesting if speed limits were all prime numbers.

I live in a fairly small town and nothing much ever happens with the police aside the usual daily stuff they deal with and do.

But when some shit gets real they all get excited like they're being treated for something.

Like there is no reason for half the police in the city show up because a body was found in the weeds or a house got shot up.

C

Police in my town are genuinely good as far as I can tell. During heavy storms and winter and whatnot they're always out making sure people are OK.

They also tend to mind their business as long as you mind yours and don't cause trouble. The way it ought to be.

I never really understood why North Carolina was still "the south".

Then again, Missouri is somehow northern, southern, eastern, and western - all at once.

Hawaii police are great. Homeless guy says "You'll have to kill me!" and charges a cop with a screwdriver and tries to take his gun. Cop (with some help from a good Samaritan) was able to take the crazy dude down. Cop got stabbed in the chin, guy who helped got a few scrapes, but they jailed the perp without any weapons or excessive force.

The problem with police isn't that they're all bad. On balance, probably very few of them are bad. But the ones that aren't bad are pieces of shit for always covering for the bad ones. If you witnessed a coworker assault, rape or murder somebody, would you cover for them? For the police in America, doing so is literally company policy, and that's why the bad ones get to do it and ruin lives. Fuck every one of them for it.

Because theres no such thing as a good cop, at least in the long run. There are ones that are simply less bad. Those who would actually be genuinely good are chased off the force (or worse)

Theyre pretty good in my town. Ive lived in one city where they openly said that part of their job was to appear intimidating. Needless to say, they were not pleasant to deal with. You would call for help and they would ignore the issue and look for something to charge you for instead.

The police where I live now are approachable and people arent scared to call them for help. Thats the way it should be in every city. They mostly make arrests for DWIs, so that makes our city safe. Also, theyre not arresting people for marijuana, so I dont really feel like theyre enforcing any unjust laws, either.

I will say that a big problem with police is that they don't get paid enough. It's a very demanding job for many different reasons and one that should require more education and vetting. But it doesn't because America is a shitty country that fucks over everybody but billionaires. The result is a job that wears through good people and attracts people who want to do it only to abuse their power, because who else wants to do it?

It's more sad than hilarious that the people who claim to love the police and the military so much are the same ones who jerk off to "lower taxes". The fuck you think pays for the police and military, morons?

You freak out simply seeing cops on the road when you yourself have had nothing but pleasurable experiences with said cops? Doesn't really make sense.

You're absolutely right - it doesn't. While I haven't had any bad experience with law enforcement, I know others that have, and have heard of others that have. I think I may just be lucky, and I don't like that idea.

It's been years since I dealt with them but it was up and down. Half my interactions were positive and half were very negative.

Not because of why I interacted with them, because how they treated some of us differently from others. And, yes, you know what I mean.
