People seemed interested in this idea, so I'm doing it. It's been a while since I've hosted a forum game, so hopefully this one doesn't end up a dumpster fire like the last "Who Would Win In a Fight" I did.

How much can I nominate?

You may nominate up to ten pieces of media. You may BOLD one of your nominations to make it count double. If you want, you can throw some quotes in when you post, I want this to be as fun as possible so if you want to try to make a case for why someone should nominate your favorite quotable media then by all means spam the thread with quotes (as long as you don't get modded).

Nominations will probably close after Nintendo's E3 conference because I ain't competing for views with hot new Smash announcements.

What can I nominate?

Honestly just nominate whatever, only read the below section if you're confused or want to know if something weird is eligible or how broad you can go. I trust you, Board 8. I'll tag you if something doesn't count.

Anything fictional! I don't want to see "Ryan Reynolds" in here, because that throws this weird blanket of "does that include 'Deadpool' and 'Detective Pikachu' or just Ryan Reynolds the human?" over the contest. I also don't want to open it up to stand-up comedians just yet.

Don't nominate characters like "Pennywise," nominate "It" as a whole.

I want to see things like "Futurama," "Strong Bad Emails," "Kung Pow! Enter the Fist," etc. I don't want to load the bracket with just different Simpsons episodes so I'm going to say nominating an entire series is the way to go.

Same goes for entire video game franchises, but the Mario games would not cover the Mario movie or Super Show or the weird offshoots like the CD-I games or Mario is Missing. Officially-made entries within the same medium only. Fan-made parodies like YouTube poops have to be nommed separately.

Don't nominate "all of Monty Python" because then you're covering movies, TV, musicals, etc. Nominate "Flying Circus" or "Holy Grail" instead.

You can also nominate musical artists if you want, but if you nominate David Bowie it won't cover his movie appearances or what he's said in press tours, it would just cover lyrics to his songs.

You can even nominate books and comics if you think they qualify; we're not just looking for actual spoken word here.

What is your barometer for "quotable?"

Quotable media doesn't just have memorable lines that are funny to say on their own, it also has lines that can be seamlessly woven in to conversation. Memorable, funny lines that become iconic on their own. Quotable media transcends culture and the restraints of a narrative because it's just so well written, acted and versatile. Quotable media also churns out notable quotes that everybody knows without even seeing that media themselves.

What about things that aren't real quotes?

A lot of people misquote Star Wars and Star Trek with "Luke, I am your father" and "Beam me up, Scotty" even though they were lines never actually spoken. I'm going to say they count anyway because people think they are quoting that media. If anything, people making up quotes that they genuinely think are real lines just shows how popular and quotable the media is. So take that into consideration when you nominate now because I don't wanna see people debating it when the contest starts.

that's fine but again, I just don't wanna flood the bracket with same-y things and then including Simpsons as one juggernaut that stomps through the bracket just because it's so widely loved and memorable and quoted

if you guys feel differently you can nominate differently, the reason it took me so long to do this contest is because I had no idea how nominating would be fair. If I'm making it unfair but trying to make it fair just call me out, I'm not perfect!
