Not due to anything with the weather here or at the destination. But all the pilots were apparently coming from Atlanta.

Also one poor flight to Atlanta was scheduled to leave at 1:30, they made the people wait in the terminal until 9 and then canceled it.

Lot of angry people here.

Stuck in an airporr is stuck in an airport.

We just got delayed for a third time to a 1am departure.

My flight just got canceled. Oh boy.

Just rent a car and drive.

The line at the ticket counter is gigantic. Only 4 employees.

They autobooked us on a united flight that goes orlando chicago then chicago los angeles pain in the ass.

Yeah i had the weather radar for atlanta opened up it was solid rain all day.

No one has access to their checked luggage yet and no one inside knows where the luggage is.

The attendant here dont even talk to you they just stare at the screens and talk on the phone, occasionally give you an update. This is one of the most soulless industries.

They are working to get us a direct flight because my dads diabetes and medication schedule(liver transplant a year and some back remember) make the time changes and layovers difficult.

How? They are usually like 20 bucks a day. 3 days of driving and u will be back.

I'll toss it up to 50 a day just cuz ur renting from an airport.

Your flights have to be like $600 a piece.

Well, I was assuming yinz would take shifts sleeping in car and drive straight thru and not use hotels.

Gas would obviously be a lot tho. About $200 or so.

Ur tickets are cheap tho. Bout what it costs from Pittsburgh to there after bags. Why I am driving down. I see I can get a rental car for $17 a day for a full size with better mileage than mine. I would get that in a second to save miles on my car but unfortunately I have a restricted license ATM.

It was 28 just to get from airport to hotel.

Its already 120 and not even halfway to Miami.

But Delta is paying all of it.

It is already $460 but with at least 30 minutes or so to go.

As someone who lives in Orlando and frequently travels I can.

Being stuck in Newark. I had a flight delayed from 9pm to 6am one Friday night and then at 5am it got cancelled. All the flights the next day were full so they couldn't get anybody from the flight onto a Newark flight home Saturday. I had to get a taxi to Westchester (like $130) and then get a flight home from there at like 3pm in the afternoon.

Newark airport is waaaaay worse than Orlando airport to be stuck at unless you're in the newer United terminal.

They didn't have any flights out of Tampa, Sanford, Daytona, Ft Lauderdale or Palm Beach? All are closer than Miami.

Nope.

Keep in mind it is a pretty busy summer travel weekend.

Now delayed 20 minutes in Miami hurray.

Flight was supposed to be off the ground an hour and a half ago.

Maybe they will shuttle you up to Orlando for another flight and you will find out you missed like 10 flights in the mean time at Orlando.

I fly pretty frequently for work and there's plenty of friendly airlines. I wouldn't limit it to just Southwest.

Southwest has taken their good will and used it to basically double their prices.

Miss Northwest. Always had the cheapest prices. = (

As always, depends on the route, and whether you're checking bags or not.

They're the only ones who let you change flights without a change fee, so I always go with Southwest whenever I can.

Not being able to pick your seat will always be a dealbreaker for me with Southwest and typically I end up with A boarding when work books me with them. It's such a stupid system

But A means you board first so wouldn't you always get whatever seat you want?

You do but the concept just annoys me. It's so stupid to not be able to pick your seat. I'd never book Southwest for personal travel because of it and whenever theres an alternative with work I opt for it.

You don't know for sure what boarding group you are until you actually check in.

Oh and that's the other thing. No entertainment on Southwest planes. Least not TVs in seats anyway

Its funny because Southwest's system is vastly better than basic economy lotto now. Now that so many people book basic economy you have people seat swapping all over the plane to keep groups together.

Also got confirmation that none of the extra fees you can pay for various things on your flight are automatically refunded. Delta probably took thousands of dollars in bag fees, seat selection fees, in-flight wifi, food and who knows what else from passengers that they are just never going to call and ask for refunds for because the process is such a pain in the ass(Hour long phone call). Just from the 4 cancelled flights while I was there the money they likely essentially stole from people is ridiculous. Currently playing phone tag with various Delta reps to get these refunded, process has to be made as difficult as possible.
