Censorship is awful, and those scenes shouldn't have been cut.

They tried to cut down the amount of gay sex scenes in fucking Rocketman, and that's fucking bullshit. Elton John's sex and love life was a very important part of the film's narrative, cutting those scenes would have been detrimental to the entirety of the film.

Censorship sucks ass.

I griped a bit about Jurassic World 2. I was unaware of the others.

I'm not too happy about Hollywood playing by China's rules, but at least we've dispelled the myth that Chinese audiences don't want black actors in their movies.

Except most of these cases were the higher ups in studios forcing them to make the cuts, not the directors of the films.

I think you know just who Im talking about. The outraged straight guys who complain about sexualized female characters being censored. There are a lot of them on this forum. They also regularly post anti-gay comments and complain about minorities in an extreme anti-SJW tirade.

The sex scenes in Rocketman answered a very important question.

I'd long suspected that Elton John was a bottom, but the film confirmed it. I thought maybe the second sex scene would have a hint of switch in him, but no. He's consistently shown to be on the receiving end.

I really respect that the film is able to say, "Hello, my name is Elton Hercules John and, yes, I am a bottom."

I'm against censorship in all forms barring a few obvious exceptions.

Going "Gay sex got censored, therefore censorship is okay to spite people!" is insane

I mean, those higher ups are making it possible for the film to be made in the first place (i.e. funding). If the directors actually wanted to do their true vision, they shouldn't accept cash that comes with strings attached.

Y'all don't know about Thor: Ragnarok's cut bi content?

Tessa Thompson and Taika Waititi wanted Valkyrie to be bisexual. They had a short scene where she's seen leaving the room of a female one night stand before running into Thor or what have you. Nothing huge, just something that showed that Valkyrie was attracted to women. The higher ups said no, even after Taika approved of the idea and defended its inclusion.

Of course, this is coming from a media conglomerate who championed LeFou being gay in the Beauty And The Beast remake, only for the content to be barely present in the first place and basically just alluded to with a scant handful of lines and a cross-dressing joke at the end. And we've got the brave men and women at Marvel who decided to showcase a gay man's grief in the aftermath of Infinity War - in a scene that China could hack out of it for the international release.

It's also called playing to your audience. When at least half, if not closer to 3/4, the audience for most of those types of movies is straight guys then why would you include scenes of gay men making out? Its not a matter of hating gay people, generally guys just don't want to see other guys going at it. Now if it had been two women then no one would care or everyone would love it.

The gay population is about 4.5% so if you were to say half are men half are women that leaves 2.25% plus the few women that get turned on by guy on guy stuff, so maybe 5% of your audience would like it. Now on the reverse you take that 2.25% gate women and take into account surveys have shown over 70% of guy's number one fantasy is a 3some, then that's at least 75% of your audience that would like two women making out.

TLDR, most people don't hate gays, as witnessed by the majority support for same sex marriage now, they would rather just see two chicks making out instead of two guys.
