I had one for my gameboy, wasn't long after that I realized I didn't really like using cheats/mods to games because I would just restart my games and play them normally.

I should still have a gameshark for my n64, though the cartridge connector is bent, it should still work. N64 got knocked over once with a game in the gameshark and it got bent, never seemed to be an issue though.

Yes, I've used them.

Game Genie for NES and SNES
GameShark for N64, Dreamcast, PSX and PS2
CodeBreaker for Dreamcast
Action Replay for GameCube, PSX and PS2

Out of the ones listed above, the only one I don't physically own is the Game Genie for the NES, but it was rented from Blockbuster Video and later borrowed from a friend.

I mostly didn't use them until after I finished the game that I'm playing or if I've been stuck for a pretty long time (at least half a year). I try to finish all games with skill.

Other than codes that allow you to cheat, I like to use other ones, like moonwalking, walking through walls, making characters into giants, and unlocking all content so that you don't have to do it again (I've had plenty of corrupted memory card saves).

Also, because I never owned a modem for the GameCube, I use Action Replay to get rare and online-only items (long after I've beaten the game). I've also used it to do things like unlock the AX track in F-Zero GX and get the NES games in Animal Crossing.

It sucked that I had to use cheat codes to unlock GBA-GameCube link cable content (like all of the records in Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life), since I don't the cable or the game. If the content is already in the game that I paid for, then just give me a way to unlock it by playing, not by paying. Content that can only be unlock by playing online also makes me feel the same way, since they can be lost forever due to servers shutting down or because many people don't play old games anymore. Also, without finding old game saves, I won't be able to have the extra songs for the Samba de Amigo games on the the Dreamcast, but I can at least still uze the Red Cat in Daytona USA without needing to put in 20 in-game hours or race online (which I can officially no longer do).

Having cheat code support in emulators is terrific, especially when you just want to goof off and speed through a game without having to have to hook older consoles back up. Ocarina codes for Wii and Gamecube games is super nice.

Gameshark for my Playstation and my N64.

The Gameshark code creators club had all sorts of unofficial codes that would do wonderful things beyond just your standard infinite lives, ammo, gold, etc kind of codes. Stuff like unlocking characters, items or areas that had been removed from the final version of the game. You weren't limited to just cheating.

More on the topic. I didnt use them long. It wiping my OoT save file made me quit using them.

I had Action Replay devices for Gamecube, GBA and DS.
The Gamecube one was the best though.
I remember doing some really crazy things in Melee.
Like move swapping characters.
Like Ganondorf having Falcon's moves. I've always wanted to see Ganondorf use the Knee of Justice and it was Glorious!

The GBA and DS were mostly for Pokemon though. Pokesav for Gen 4 games were a blast to screw around with : )

used one on Pokemon to EX train pokemon. All the ones I battled with were 100% legit caught but I used Action replay to EV train them by forcing encounters.

With Nintendo being so anti-cheat lately is why I haven't bought a game or a system of theirs in years.

If I remember right, you had to wait until the S.S. Anne left and then you were supposed to use Surf to get over to the truck that the Mew was in. Obviously, once the ship left, the guard wouldn't let you back on the dock. I fell for that rumor. Spent about an hour trying to get around them and get to the truck.

The gameshark was especially cool because it let you look at a lot of concept art and stuff that was on some discs but not accessible from the game normally. I remember that the twisted metal games in particular had a bunch of weird art for characters and vehicles that wasnt seen in the game
