I don't remember much about 1999, but WWE was good in the early 2000s.

Buying out and shutting down WCW was a huge mistake for the wrestling industry as a whole, but WWE still produced good content for several years after that.

It hasn't helped that wrestling itself has become such a niche product. Look at the crowds and you'll see it's 90% made up of the typical smark wrestling nerd kind of fan when before you'd get a wider range of people. Wrestling promotions have stopped treating wrestling like a simulated athletic contest and concentrate on it all being just a show put on by performers. The indys focus too much on flashy moves and being funny and taking the piss out of wrestling itself. WWE is too set in their ways and don't have to try because of the lack of any real competition and getting all that Saudi and Fox money.

I hope AEW can shake things up, but I also hope they don't just try to cater to the typical wrestling crowd like with that stupid battle royal on the pre show. That was ridiculous.

What's it supposed to be?

The arenas they go to tend to be made to fit 20-30k+ people and once upon a time they sold out every week. So 3,500 must of looked like the arena was almost empty.

It was a 6-8k capacity arena.

Still not a good sign they couldn't sell out a small arena though. But as long as Vince is in creative control I'll keep not watching

WWE is too "cartoony". Maybe they should focus on wrestling instead of "entertainment".

Wrestling sucks so storylines and cheesy crap is what keeps people interested. The problem is that the writing stopped being clever or funny a long time ago and they dont have any charismatic wrestlers anymore. Nobody cares about WWE except for 12 year olds and rednecks

This. Once McMahon had a monopoly on wrestling, shit started to go to hell. The writing was really bad, and they just shoved shit on TV

1999 had some of the most abysmal writing ever, WWE sucked well before WCW and ECW bit the dust.

2000-2005 were all great years though. So...

The Tacoma Dome sits 23,000 though.
The Moda Center sits 20,000.
The Winds Arena is relatively smaller at 10,000.

Probably a learning experience for Vince when he comes back to the Pacfiicto just book the small time arenas. Like ones that he would normally use for houseshows with a capacity of 8,000-10,000.
