The only people hurt are greedy collectors and such but at the same time, there'll always be buyers.

Not really, which is why I never took issue with people emulating games that are no longer being sold.

Fuck people who pirate new shit though(Unless you actually buy the product later), especially those who do it out of """protest""".

Nope, not at all. IMO, products that are either discontinued or have no legal method to acquire them in your region are okay to pirate. The "taking a purchase away from the creators" excuse doesn't work when there's no legal way for the person to buy the product to begin with.

I'd gladly pay $15-20 to play Glover again if I could (since I fucking loved that game) but if there are no used copies available and it's never re-released digitally, then I can't do that. I'd gladly pay an anime streaming service $10 a month to watch the latest Pretty Cure series if I could, but since Toei doesn't license the show to anyone outside of Japan, then I can't do that. So piracy is literally the only option in these situations.

Some might argue that if you are pirating old stuff, then you have less time for, and be less likely to buy, new stuff and that would hurt the companies.

I agree that there's being a leech who doesn't want to give developers money and there's product no longer available, even through collectors.

This. Honestly, people shouldn't even bother to make excuses if they do pirate.
