I actually have that feeling a lot of times in anime cause I tend to like secondary characters more than MCs. And the MC usually gets to be the one that is the winner in the end. Yeah, by themselves I'd tend to agree but Asuka and Shinji together has a ton of entertainment value imo. Asuka brings out a side of Shinji that you really don't see with anyone else. Episode 9 is pretty much my favorite episode of the show. Although that does owe a lot to the most glorious minute of mecha fighting ever. Asuka may be a bitch, and shinji a whiny coward but I've still got a lot of sympathy for them. At the end of the day, they're teenagers with the fate of the world resting on their shoulders. Shinji's dealing with depression and abandonment issues, and Asuka's definitely got some serious ptsd from seeing ~~her mother's suicide~~. Asuka brings out a side of Shinji that you really don't see with anyone else. Episode 9 is pretty much my favorite episode of the show. Although that does owe a lot to the most glorious minute of mecha fighting ever. Asuka may be a bitch, and shinji a whiny coward but I've still got a lot of sympathy for them. At the end of the day, they're teenagers with the fate of the world resting on their shoulders. Shinji's dealing with depression and abandonment issues, and Asuka's definitely got some serious ptsd from seeing her mother's suicide. Also, i'm not sure why people make such a big deal out of fly me to the moon not being there when A cruel angel's thesis is pretty much the perfect anime song.</quote> ... Copied to Clipboard!
