Yeah, basically this. The subjects of conversation are more "adult" (election drama instead of board invasion drama) but we're all still the same people.

Technically the conversation is still the alpha/beta stuff, but that movement has grown into modern nationalism. People here are still following the same old childish impulses, it just has a larger effect.

That said, talking about social brainwashing topics is pretty mature back in the day compared to all the shitposting and calling everyone gay that happened around then, especially on other boards. We've reduced the shitposting a lot, so overall the % of mature topics on the board has increased. But individual topics (except mine) have not really changed.

Overall, the board is more mature now than it used to be. It just comes with the territory with the average age continuing to go up. Not to say the board isn't still prone to it, of course, but it's less common, at least in the topics I frequent.

B8 is also more subdivided than ever before, so it's also much easier to avoid that stuff nowadays, so I'm not sure if that's really a mark of maturity or not.

The only issue is the the problem users and trolls have gotten worse. Perhaps because the old standard just wasn't getting them attention anymore.

That and """trolling""" these days is less about carefully saying something to make someone mad for the lulz...

and more about saying racist/sexist/offensive shit and pretending you've "won" if someone notices the stool you've left on the rug.
