Yes, unofficially - My dad is an electrician so he'd always get me and my bros to help with at home construction projects.

Most recently we just built a sublet for a hot tub, and we built our deck, poured cement for a sidewalk, did plumbing/carpentry/etc... literally everything except electrical work.

But no, I haven't worked construction as a real job.

But what I did... I did like. It's fun and rewarding.

Sort of. Growing up, I've worked with my uncle on a few things like laying bricks, carpentry, cement pouring, rebar layouts, and landscaping. I don't remember a lot of it, but I've retained some stuff from the years.

Yeah I worked construction for a couple years. Roadwork mainly. It was a great experience over all. You just have to deal with the occasional jerk foreman.

Built a few houses as well, but I wasn't with a company at the time.

Secretary for a construction company summers in college, and when they were shorthanded, drove some tools and materials deliveries to job sites. Yah, pretty much fun.

It sucks

It was a long time ago, but yes, I worked construction from about 13-15, under the table.

Excellent job if your in good shape. Food will never taste as good. It's also one of the best paying under the table jobs you can get.

I don't think I've ever heard someone say they liked roofing, although I'm sure there are some who do. It seems like a terrible job that simply has to exist (kinda like a necessary evil) to me.

Yeah, I did as part of a summer job while earning my engineering degree.

The pay was great, at least for a student, particularly because we were on a government contract, but the hours were atrocious and the work culture was super unhealthy (lots of greasy fast food, and everyone on the crew pretty much mainlined cigarettes and energy drinks). It was definitely a young man's job.

Definitely enjoyed, was a positive experience at the time and, thanks to ridiculous amounts of overtime, I was able to pay off all my university bills for the coming year in a 2.5 week period in the middle of August, but I would never do it again.

Never no! I did work with my local gas and electric company though. Best paying job I ever had but they work a lot of weekends.

I've also never known anyone who likes it. My uncle loves it now that he runs the show and doesn't go up on roofs, but he hated doing it.

It's hard, hot, and dangerous. It's sex without the orgasm.
