I just found his baby lambchop toy under the bed when I was putting the sheets back on and I started bawling. Life feels so empty now.

:( I know this feeling well. I was a wreck after our dog died several years ago. Unfortunately, that's the thing about growing old. Make the most of the time you have with loved ones and cherish the memories. Always know that they loved you unconditionally and were there for you.

Yep, I still reminisce about the days when my old guy was still around.

Every loss is different, and everyone works through grief in their own way, so I don't want to say "I know how you feel" or anything like that.

What I will say is, the grief may always be with you, but that grief you carry will change with time. It may never become "easier", less sad... but hopefully will become more manageable, or you may even come to some sort of peace with your grief. You may come to a point where you find comfort in your loss, if that makes sense. Where your memories will offer you some bittersweet joy when you chance upon something that brings Ernie to mind. You'll think of how Ernie would've enjoyed what you're experiencing, and it will be warming to you to think of his happiness in that moment.

Maybe months, maybe years, but hopefully sooner rather than later, I hope you can reach that level of peace with your loss. Sorry you're going through this, Jen.

I'm sorry to hear that Jen. I had a feeling that was going to happen and believe me it sucks cause when I lost my bird it hit me really hard. It's getting a little better now but sometimes it can it can come out of nowhere and still hit hard. This will go on for a while but it will eventually get better so just hang in there and take things one day at a time. Take care Jen.

Yeah, I just hope it won't be too long. I'm usually okay but always thinking of him rn but sometimes something really triggers me and I just start sobbing. My poor big boy.

It is awful losing a pet. My wife had a video come up in her timeline on Facebook recently from several years ago with 2 of our cats who passed away. So the sadness came back, but I was also glad to be able to see the video.
