Never tried it until now, but it seems pretty boring. Seems like it's just steadily swinging.

I never found melee that fun in any of the Fallout games. That one perk in 4 that knocks heads off at random is kinda cool though.

It's only fun with stealth. I've been playing the same Fallout 4 character for about two years now, I think I'm around level 180.

It's more shallow that previous games, but it's still fun.

whole thing felt like a chore after ten hours. Stealth was broken for me, scripted dialogue for quests was broken, there was no enemy variety - they took the "Draugr idling in crypts until you walk by" thing to an extreme with the ghouls on the ground.

Stealth worked fine for me. Dialogue wasn't as rich as before, but wasn't broken for me.
Sounds like you had somethings go wrong. Mods? When has Fallout had enemy variety? The ghouls waiting to attack often led to being overwhelmed by a group, instead of just picking them off.

I didn't use any mods at all, just played vanilla FO4. I haven't seen anyone else complain about the stealth issues I had which is really curious to me, but I also don't go to a lot of Fallout discussion boards so.

When I talk about the dialogue, I mean I had straight up missions referencing people and events I hadn't even encountered yet.

And yeah that was the premise of the ghouls but in practice you just got to an area and popped them all in the head before they even got up.

I had more fun in visceral cleanup detail :\

Never had any technical issues with the game, just hated how everything turned into a gunfight. Started choosing perks for combat halfway through the game because there was no need for others

This is an issue with the game. Can't wait for Outer Worlds. Obsidian doing a Fallout meets Borderlands thing? Yes, please!

The fact that enemies instantly honed in on my position regardless of the weapon I used or the distance at which I used it. Made certain parts really difficult, especially when they could launch mininukes from blocks away.

There were other technical issues that people *did* experience on a massive scale, such as the fact that if you unlocked perks in the "wrong" order you would miss out on percentage boosts.

They will take pot shots in the direction that you are in, but won't shoot at you. I think that's what you're thinking of.

The potshot thing is true, and you can still occasionally register sneak attack crits while in Caution mode. However, along those lines, enemies are ridiculously accurate in FO4. Junkie raiders can chuck molotovs right on top of your head from a hundred yards away and a hundred feet below again and again without fail, a frustation compounded by enemy NPCs having unlimited explosives as long as they have one in their inventory.

Bro, I got 100% achievements in the base game and logged over 143 hours in the game. I'm talking about enemies automatically locking on to me and hunting me down when I killed their friend with a silenced sniper rifle from a mile away.

I agree entirely. I'm used to stealth being broken the other way in Bethesda games, where you'll just sit in a pit with six enemies bumping into you and never doing anything.
