I'm not much of a 100 percenter kind of gamer, but one game I did 100 percent was Batman Arkham Asylum. Getting three-medals on every challenge map pretty much broke me, especially Shock and Awe.

I remember playing hours on end that day. I actually got the world record 7 different times in like a 48 hour span. I am briefly mentioned in the summoning salt video regarding ultra shortcuts. If you ever watched him.

But I was a top player from 08 to like 11 with various top 10 times.

Was never personally involved in TTs since I just didn't have the patience or skill but I knew a fair few people who did and I've tried to keep up with the community as best I can. i grinded Dustia to level 99 to be the first one (as far as i'm aware) to complete FFXII without using the license board. took about 100 hours. plus some dozens of hours farming scathe motes.

That's fair enough, it's easier to justify doing it now because you can interact with people watching you and show off a bit, plus there's some financial incentives, but it's a big time commitment if you want to seriously go for records with how optimised they're getting now.

I do love how active the game is still, and how inventive the community is. That Shy Guy Beach ultra in particular absolutely blew my mind when I first saw it.

For me, the most recent one I can think of is probably doing all the sidequests in Breath of the Wild. I was only planning on a full shrine + all DLC run but then I still kept wanting to play the game. I would just do like one more every time I played and eventually I did them all, so at least it's not like I grinded them all out. The reward is almost always fucking rupees though which made them completely pointless. Man I hope BotW 2 spices up the sidequest game.

Grinding events in Fate Grand Order for sure

Limiting it to non-mobile games I'm not actually sure. I'm not much of someone who does mind numbing tasks. I don't like achievements and I don't care for dumb challenge runs in RPGs.

I grinded a lot of levels to try and beat Balio and Sunder in Breath of Fire 3 but nothing too crazy. Gades 1 in Lufia 2 similarly, but he actually was beatable at mid-high 30s so it's not that bad especially with the Red Cores.

I guess grinding levels in Disgaea to unlock Angel and Majin? *shrug Even then I'm small time. Why am I even posting here.

Hm. Nothing really sticks out in terms of mind-numbing. I'm usually pretty motivated even if I'm doing something repetitive. Most repetitive thing would be grinding Joe & Mac (SNES) speedruns for world record. Probably reset the game a few thousand times, which is rookie numbers compared to a lot of serious speedrunners.

I guess grinding up before the elite 4 in my pokemon yellow nuzlocke. I was scared so I grinded up like 15 levels each for a couple pokemon.

Ohhh jk. WoW, farming furbolgs for the Timbermaw exalted trinket. That was a damn slog.

I went for the platinum on Driveclub while only having the PS+ edition, which meant I had to replay the shortest available track like 300 times. It was the most efficient way, and I only had 5 other tracks to play anyways. I was going insane.

Currently trying to get the Red Dead Redemption 2 platinum and that hardcore sucks too. Lots of completely pointless fetch quests that mostly involve picking flowers and hunting animals over and over again.

1) Grinding all the skills that you basically couldn't level through normal gameplay in MGO2 (MGS4), including ones I knew I'd probably never use like Shield.

2) Getting the Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic trophy in GTA 4. It was a bronze trophy (or 30 gamerscore on XBox) for winning every multiplayer mode, which sounds like a bronze trophy, EXCEPT they made the baffling decision to count every race track as a separate mode, so you end up having to do all of this:

On top of that, if everyone drops a race even after you win, it doesn't count, so trading wins with someone for the races was basically mandatory. Oh, and Rockstar servers could randomly decide not to save a win somewhere, and the only way to hope to figure that out is to check the leaderboard for your win stats for each and every mode on that list individually.

Oh, and I never got max rank in GTA 4 online, so I didn't even Platinum it. I counted it as worse than my MGO2 grinding until they took the MGO2 servers down, making the time I wasted on it doubly pointless.
