No Es in the US.

But like I asked in the last topic talking about grades - are you asking about the final end-of-year grade on the report card? Individual quarter/semester grades? On assignments or tests?

I actually got worse than that. I got a no grade as I didn't attend P.E classes during my last year in school. Why? I didn't see the point.

That's odd. In Elementary it was O, S, I, U for the first few grades.

Outstanding, Satisfactory, Improvement Needed, Unsatisfactory.

In that case, I only ever had one F in primary school. In a class where I decided early on that the teacher could go fuck himself, so I refused to ever do any assignments or work other than just taking tests. I also had a few Ds for similar reasons. My low grades were always attitude issues rather than academic ones.

In college, I never had Ds or Fs because I knew super far in advance when I was going to fail a class, and would just drop the class and take the Incomplete. And were mostly caused by me just finding a given class super-boring and deciding I'd rather stay in my apartment playing FFVII instead of going to class.

We had this, except just E, S, NI - there was no U in my school.

So yeah, I did have E grades in the past.

I was the big fish in the small pond. I was the only student that was marked "accelerated" as my high school did not have an AP or anything as the such. Which caused me to under perform by a large margin. I did barely enough to graduate.

Yep. Got a F once. It was in a theater class. I didn't choose any elective class at the beginning of the school year so I was thrown into that class. I didn't like it at all one bit so I choose to do absolutely nothing and just work on my other classes homework and whatnot. Got an 8 out of 100 (F) as my final grade. Didn't even show up for my final.

My mom died my freshman year and I struggled to get through high school. Barely passed.

*offers virtual hug* Mine died when I was 16, just a month into my A level course (in the UK); I had to drop out to look after my younger sister, since my alcoholic surviving parent was in no condition to.

Back on topic - yes, just one, at GCSE level, and it wasn't really my fault. I changed schools due to bullying in the middle of my exam year, though I'd been trying to persuade my parents to allow it for a while it only actually happened when Mum was genuinely considering homeschooling me after how I'd been treated. Anyway, I switched, but in my part of the UK the schools have set curricula, but can choose from one of two main topics for coursework (the marks count in your exams even though they aren't done in exam conditions). They can also choose to have their kids, for example, do one exam and 2 pieces of coursework for the grades, or 2 exams and 1 piece of coursework. The coursework gets done over the course of the year & sent off to be marked. For me, my previous school had gone the more-exams-than-coursework route, but my new school had gone the other way, and with a very different topic choice. So that trashed my grades for that class. (New school also forgot to put the time of the French oral exams on the general timetable because most of their students weren't taking it, so I missed it and wound up getting a B where I should have had an A.)

Ha, I only just realised I didn't say what subject. History.

I actually wound up getting an ABCDE grade spread German, French, Maths, English, & History. I retook my English exam in college & got a higher grade for it. Given that year (2002) was an absolute F-off mess I never want to revisit, between bullying, bulimia, suicide attempts, changing schools, the death of my favourite cat & then the death of my mother, I'm surprised I even did that well. (My mocks the previous year were mostly A grades, apart from maths & physics which were Cs, & that's pretty good going considering my dyscalculia. A to C is considered a "good pass" at GCSE, while D & E grades are passing ones but not usually sufficient to get into a university degree course.)

This but it turned out half thr class was also failing. Think they ended up bumping most of us up to D because it was clearly a teacher issue. I dont remember exactly I just know i didnt have to take summer school or anything and it was a required class.

I failed 7th grade Spanish (as did 25 of 28 students) thanks to an awful teacher. For homework, he had us translate a newspaper. If we made one mistake on the 13 pages, that page was a 0. That was an every day thing

Obnoxious, rude and quick to put down any student who mispronounced words in his class. He knew best. He came from another country!

He also was known to be touchy- feely with the girls, which was how he eventually lost his job 20 years later

I was really lazy and only did the bare minimum of homework required to pass. One of my english teachers decided not to have a final which normally counts for 10% of your grade which would have bumped me up to a passing D.
