Board 8 > Shadow of the Tomb Raider *spoilers, kind of*

Beated. I've gotten 100% in all the new Tomb Raider games and I've had a lot of fun doing so even though the plot of each game is total nonsense. I'm honestly not sure exactly what the main villain of Shadow was trying to accomplish, but I guess I stopped him?

The environments in Shadow are gorgeous, and each town/village was incredibly lifelike. They knocked that out of the park. I also really enjoy how Lara is a total nutcase. There's so many little things (and sometimes big things) she does that make her seem bonkers and it's great.

Shadow>=Rise>=2013 probably. Appreciate that each game focused more on the exploration and less on constant fighting.

I really liked 2013 so i went into Rise ready to love it

it was just kind of boring and i stopped when i got to the rebel camp or whatever

no interest in shadow, but maybe i'll play it if it's ever on sale for like $5

I'm pretty much on that boat. I like the series. Payed the first one in a week. Second one I enjoyed, but I just kinda slogged through it.

But I also got the first two on a steam sale so just kinda waiting till this one hits like 3, 5 dollars like the previous titles have.

I really liked the gameplay in Rise. Shame that people are down on it.

She gets crazier with every game. Overall she's a violent, bloodthirsty person who takes to killing almost immediately and grows to enjoy it. She's impulsive to the detriment of herself and everyone around her. She's got big time PTSD and deals with it by bulldozing through constant conflict so she never has to deal with her issues.

The series doesnt play this up for the most part because Lara is nice and helpful to people she considers good people, but it's there if you pay attention, and by the end of Shadow a lot of the subtext has just become text.

Another random comment on Shadow - it has maybe the most consistently good underwater segments in any game? I actually enjoyed them and I almost never do. The underwater controls feel super fluid (heh).

Liked them all. Some of the best games this gen. Each one is less action oriented than the one prior which is why people are probably finding them more boring as they progress to the next iteration.

I've seen some comments to that effect, yeah. I prefer the greater emphasis on exploration but I can see why people wouldn't like the change.

In my opinion, Tomb Raider isn't supposed to be a non-stop action game. So, I don't find it annoying, and I enjoy them a ton. They are getting to the point they can't keep topping one another and also have placed to keep going though.

This is easily the worst Tomb Raider game. Incredibly dull campaign, awful story and characterization of Lara that refuses to even engage with its premise, and like, just super racist in its depiction of local indigenous culture.

This is the case for me too.

All I remember in Rise was Ana being the villain was supposed to shock and/or anger me, but it did not since she was a character I barely knew and had no attachment to.
