He just got the job a few months ago, but new management came in and dissolved his position. He has tried to be calm about as possible but he is crushed. I really have never seen him in a funk like this and have no idea what to tell him to feel better.

Anyone have any advice for me to give him? As a friend I don't want him to do anything stupid. Thanks.

If its a hostile environment then he should find new work. But he couldve easily just been terminated, so this might be better for him if he finds it preferable to severance

I had an interview for a position that they approached me about at work, was accepted, then had the offer pulled before I could transfer. They also left the person who was supposed to take charge of training in charge of my old position so ended up doing something I absolutely didn't want to do. I wish I had good advice for handling it, but I also may have messed up a potential relationship in the resulting depressed funk.

Brush up the resume, start looking for work. Continue to do his current job with dignity and grace until a new position is secured.

I hate when that happens, new management comes in and fuck everything up. Anyways, new job time.

Yeah. Unless the company is in crisis mode you really need a new managed to not rock the boat too hard when he comes on.

Terrible for morale and a good way to lose your talent.

Keep his LinkedIn profile up to date and make periodic contact with useful contacts. Networking is the best way to find a new position, whenever he is ready to do so.

And remind him never to burn any bridges. No matter how "cheated" he feels, he should never talk badly about anyone. You never know who might be in a position to help you in the future, so always keep interactions positive.

Does that really work? Everyone I know on LinkedIn lies on their resume. I've had prospects that I found out just were not telling the truth.
