Of course, this won't have any real consequences.

I always thought it was funny during the "ad-pocalypse," everyone was whining, "How are we supposed to make a living on YouTube now?" Like, you're not. You're not supposed to do that.

YouTube has and will always be a hobby.

Broadcasting you playing with toys or video games will only be relevant for so long.

It's literally a 1% market chance of becoming a 1m+ subscriber worthy talent.

Eh, they're kids. We dreamed about what it would be like to be movie stars or rock stars or whatever else that would have involved being rich and people being interested in you, YouTube success is just one of the modern day equivalents for their generation of "being famous"'

So you want to be a Tube superstar
And live large, a big house
5 cars, you're in charge
Comin up in the world
Don't trust nobody
Gotta look over your shoulder constantly

It's a lot lower than 1%

I am actually looking forward to the next generation of rappers, "singing" about how they could never make it big as a YouTube star.

Good point. However, starting a Youtube channel and posting vids of yourself is significantly easier than starring in a band or movie.

Basically. Only the top few can actually make a comfortable "wage" involving just Youtube. But even those guys are branching off into other avenues to make money now that they have the recognition (Markiplier + Jacksepticeye launching a legit pricy clothing brand, not just merch). They know Youtube is volatile and not reliable to make money on.

Others make money through Twitch donations and Patreon, so yeah, it becomes quickly apparent that Youtube itself doesn't make you much money, it's other forms that they do.

Its unspeakably less ambitious. At least a kid wanting to be an astronaut or musician or something will pick up some skills. How does that old saying go?

Aim for the moon and even if you miss youll be among the stars?

What happens if you shoot for the toilet?

she asked everyone at her parties if theyre youtubers and she wanted to be one. it was cute.

but youtube has its ups and downs for a price for fame.

They're emulating people that they look up to, and they have been told their whole lives that they're going to have to work. So I don't see it as weird. That being said, I get you. As a kid, I never thought that it would be great to have to go to a job every day and had no idea what I wanted to do as a career until a few years before college.
