I'm sure there has been at least one restaurant whose food made you sick because it was poorly made or they used expired meat..surprisingly, rarely fast food makes people sick but rather actual restaurants and BUFFETS are the likely bad food preps.

which restaurant made you toss your cookies?

The Carrabba's near me(only one I have ever been to) has, 100% of the time, given me the poops that night. Not sure what it is. But the only thing I always get is their house salad. So it may be that?

I threw up after eating at Shari's Cafe and Pies once, but to be fair, I was having an incredibly bad day so it might have been stress... though I've never thrown up from stress before... on the other hand, I don't usually eat when I'm really stressed... eh. I don't eat there much at all and I the few times I have been there since, I haven't ordered what I had that time again.

Like actually sick? Or mild discomfort? Or is it an undiagnosed gluten allergy? Because I find it hard to believe you have gotten sick from that many places.

MC D's the most, I don't eat there anymore

Followed by Taco Bell (But it's been along time, last few times were ok).

And then Togo's (sandwich place in CA). I really like their food, and their meatball subs are yum, but it makes me sick every time (must be something they put in it).

May have gotten sick a few times in the past but I can't think of any except when I used to get sick from eggs, and would eat at chinese places that would put egg in their soup etc. Tasted great, but I would end up barfing after eating it (kinda ruining the experience). Happened alot after I first got married and we were trying new places in Apple Valley where my wife lived.

That chineese food place was GREAT, but yeah, I think I got sick every time I went there...and eventually stopped going (it was so good I was a bit stubborn about going back lol).

Just last year, at Honey Dew (regional coffee + doughnut shop)

They have breakfast sandwiches, and I ordered one. Most places offer the usual ham, bacon, and/or sausage. This place also offered chorizo, which appealed to me. In hindsight, I'm sure it's something that doesn't get ordered often as it's not a "usual" offering, and it was probably expired/spoiled.

Hadn't thrown up in about 20 years before that day. Spent most of the day in and out of bed between trips to the toilet to make my offering

With very few exceptions, food-borne illnesses have to incubate for 2-4 days before you'll show symptoms. It's quite rare for the last meal you ate to be the culprit, which means most people who think a given restaurant made them sick are incorrect.

Mc D's burgers always make me feel sick afterwards, usually within minutes of eating them.

Taco bells ground beef used to as well, or give me plumbing problems at least, think it was the grease/high fat content in them but not sure.

In both cases though it was obviously that food that caused the problem, to the point I stopped eating them (especially the Mc D's). I used to get double burgers for $1 all the time from them before they started to make me sick a few years ago, no clue what changed.

the rice is the bad one, panda express rice needs soy sauce, noodles are meh but the white rice is the best to get (it's moist just like you cook at home).

Bullshit.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/food-poisoning/symptoms-causes/syc-20356230

The following table shows some of the possible contaminants, when you might start to feel symptoms and common ways the organism is spread.

Clostridium botulinum 12 to 72 hours

Clostridium perfringens 8 to 16 hours

Listeria 9 to 48 hours

Noroviruses (Norwalk-like viruses) 12 to 48 hours

Shigella 24 to 48 hours

Staphylococcus aureus 1 to 6 hours

Not to mention a couple that say 1-3 days.

https://www.cdc.gov/foodsafety/diseases/clostridium-perfringens.html

Clostridium perfringens is one of the most common types of foodborne illness in the United States. CDC estimates it causes nearly 1 million cases of foodborne illness each year.

https://www.cdc.gov/norovirus/trends-outbreaks/burden-US.html

Norovirus Illness
Norovirus is the leading cause of vomiting and diarrhea from acute gastroenteritis (inflammation of the stomach and intestines) among people of all ages in the United States. Each year, on average in the United States, norovirus:

causes 19 to 21 million cases of acute gastroenteritis
leads to 1.7 to 1.9 million outpatient visits and 400,000 emergency department visits, primarily in young children
contributes to about 56,000 to 71,000 hospitalizations and 570 to 800 deaths, mostly among young children and the elderly.
Norovirus is the leading cause of acute gastroenteritis among U.S. children less than 5 years of age who seek medical care. Norovirus is responsible for nearly 1 million pediatric medical care visits annually.

https://www.cdc.gov/shigella/fast-facts.html

Every year, there are about 500,000 cases of shigellosis in the United States 1. Shigellosis does not have a marked seasonality, likely reflecting the importance of person-to-person transmission. For more information, see the FoodNet 2011 Surveillance Report.Cdc-pdf[PDF 53 pages]

Yes, I've gotten sick from 5 or 6 different Wendy's. And then Taco Bell has occasionally given me the runs.

Then I've got sick from a few normal restaurants, in some cases I suspected that the meat wasn't prepared right beforehand.

Is it that surprising? Franchises tend to be very heavily regulated by the companies that give out the licensing and have uniform production policies.

Got food poisoning for 2 days from some newly opened restaurant, ironically after a food safety course in my home ec class earlier in the day so I was a bit nervous about food for the rest of the day, luckily it was on a Friday so it could have been worse.

I'm pretty sure Waffle House gave me some mild food poisoning, had it one night at a convention and the next few days were just filled with explosive craps

Also, Chic-fil-a has always made me feel sick with their chicken. I can eat their waffle fries no problem, but I have never been able to make it halfway through any chicken meal, including grilled sandwiches and grilled nuggets. Thought I might be allergic to the oil they use, but it wouldn't make sense that the fries don't affect me in any way.
