If he wants the name Mr. Brexit he should start working on making that happen. Right now it's looking like Brexit might not happen at all!

I propose that the US immediately offer the UK 350 million pounds per week for the NHS and full NAFTA membership if the UK leaves the EU with no deal. The US can also slap a 15% tariff on the EU, which the UK can avoid by leaving.

As someone who followed this hurricane very tightly over the past week because I was unsure if it could have ramifications on my vacation. That appears to be one of the older prediction maps. Not sure if it's exact, but the eye was supposed to go directly over Disney at one point and north west across Florida. (At one point even back into the gulf).

Looks like he is just using an older model. The hurricane of course changed a lot from that.

Ok but the storm has turned away from Georgia yet alone Alabama. Why use a 6 day old map instead of a more current one that would correctly show the Very real danger to north carolina.

So he isnt being more cautious, just directing his caution to the wrong places.

Obviously. He was extrapolating. The map itself is real. He was explaining why he mentioned Alabama. If it had followed that track, Alabama would have been hit.

But, most people looking at these maps don't even seem to understand the cone of probability is the possible paths of the eye of the storm. With the storm getting bigger and extending outward up to however many miles. Was 45 miles at one point (tropical force winds at 110 miles out or so). That, if it followed the uppermost of that cone, it could have hit a ton of states. The fact he added Alabama was probably just based on an old map and he was pumping the storm up as he does all his storms (look at his comments on basically ever hurricane). People are looking way too much at it. Though, Trump is taking way too much time going back at it either.

The reason they dont just extrapolate hurricanes all the way to the West Coast is because they lose strength over land and dissipate.

It wouldnt be a hurricane anymore if it traveled straight through that exact projection to Alabama, thus, him saying Alabama should prepare for a hurricane was irresponsible, and as we now know, illegal.

Probably because of the time/money/panic involved.

Alabama is not the West Coast. Weirder things have happened in weather than a hurricane continuing through Florida to land in Alabama. And the usual way is to cross Florida, restrengthen in the Gulf of Mexico, then turn north.

Trump never claimed that the storm hitting Alabama was likely or that his forecast had any measure of precision. He basically named all the coastal states in the Southeastern US. Trump statements should basically never be read for precision.

The cone is limited in time. Beyond the last time forecasted by the cone, the hurricane could have continued West into Alabama. Trump's bubble simply demonstrated a possible path for the storm.

I mean, does anyone here follow weather forecasts much? The weather channel was my favorite channel as a child and I would watch marathon sessions when there was a hurricane making landfall. And for nor'easters hitting New England. Our forecasts are just not that accurate.

So when Trump advises people in California to take shelter from an impending earthquake, they are probably not going to do it. And then blame him for not warning them.

literally using a nearly-week old forecast map and then altering it with a literal sharpie rather than using the current map that would actually be relevant to public safety when talking about a hurricane simply because he has what must be the most fragile ego to ever exist and feels "proving" himself right is more important than informing the public as to the state of actual reality

I know it's an old game, but imagine how the GOP would respond if Obama had done this - claimed a hurricane was going to hit where it wasn't, then broke federal statue by presenting a modified week-old hurricane projection as fact to "prove" he was correct. They'd be starting impeachment proceedings within the day.
