Alex Houdsden, an Oklahoma City News Anchor made a TEARFUL APOLOGY to her black co-host after she compared him to a GORILLA during a last week segment!!

She made the comparison to co-anchor, Jason Hackett, while they reported on a young gorilla at the Oklahoma City Zoo and Housden was was laughing at the segment before saying the primate "kind of looks like you" to which her co-anchor siad "he kind of does, actually yeah"

Video of the awkward exchange soon went viral where several users decry the remarks

On Friday, she made an on air grovelling apology who said "one of my best friends for the past year and a half. I'm here this morning because i want to apologize, not only to my coworker Jason but to our entire community. I said something yesterday that was inconsiderate, it was inappropriate and i hurt people. I want you to know i understand how much i hurt you all out there and how much i hurt you. I would never do anything on purpose to hurt you"

She expressed her apology to her viewers and Hackett accepted her apology and cosigned that the 2 had a fantastic relationship

He said "What she said yesterday was wrong. It cut deep for me and a lot of you in the community. The lesson here is that words matter. We are becoming a more diverse country and there is no excuse. We have to understand the stereotypes, we have to understand each other's backgrounds and the words that hurt and that cut deep. We have to find a way to replace those words with love and words of affirmation"

I actually am a fan of forgiveness. It's just difficult when nobody else is, and then certain types of people get forgiven way more easily than others do.
I believe forgiveness is really the only real way to move on and is best in the long run, but actually applying it is way easier said than done.
People have not attempted to empathize with my struggles at all, I haven't been shown any compassion over the life-changing stuff I had to go through 3 months ago, so I'm just extremely angry and that's why stuff like this can trigger me.
I wanna forgive others and I want them to forgive me but it seems like the people around me are heartless, soullless scum.

She apologized to him, he accepted. She apologized to her viewers, they accepted. It had nothing to do with feminism. She said the wrong thing as a joke and the right thing as a apology.

Honestly if the black guy is actually friends with her and thats not just being said because they work closely together I can believe she had no racist intention and was just ribbing her friend and didnt realize the racist implication until after.

She apolgized and he accepted the apology so I feel no further action is needed. If he didnt accept the apology I could understand it taking further action.

From the eyes of naivety, I can see how a non-racist person might make that joke innocently on appearances alone. Evolution does argue we evolved from monkeys so any resemblance isn't shocking. My laugh is monkeyish. But a newscaster shouldn't be that naive.

Eh they arent really hired on that sorta merit. Sound good speaking and can read the teleprompter they are good to go. Bonus points for being easy on the eyes. Im sure a little more goes into what they consider but you get what I mean.
