Also, there's a difference between being a white nationalist and a nationalist who happens to be white but it's racism against white people at it's finest. Simply, being patriotic and white means you're a "white nationalist." It's an even lazier way of trying to slap the nazi label on people you disagree with

This logo might not seem like much at first glance. But, as Mediaite details, a number of people noticed that it is nearly identical to one posted by VDare, an anti-immigration Southern Poverty Law Center-designated hate group whose website is a platform for white supremacy. Coincidentally, VDare has been in the news in recent days after the Department of Justice came under heavy criticism for distributing a news briefing to government employees that included a link to an anti-Semitic screed on VDares site.

As my colleague Jane Coaston has explained, VDare describes itself as focused on the racial and culture identity of America and regularly amplifies some of the most notorious white supremacists in the country...

But the origins of the lion head imagery go deeper than VDare. The month before VDare posted that tweet, a group calling itself the Lion Guard launched a website. The group claimed to be dedicated to the safety and security of Trump supporters and willing to forcefully protect Trump from threats.

As author Horace Bloom detailed, lion imagery has deep roots in fascism. Trump in fact tweeted out a Benito Mussolini quote in February 2016 that likely inspired the lions head logo that emerged a month later.

I'm going to be fair though that symbol is pretty bad ass. I'm sure they like it because it looks cool and the dog whistle aspect of it isn't the primary goal.

One of the many democrats running for president right now is looking through twitter, finds something they like for themselves someone posted. So they decide to post it without any back ground research.

Oh no turns out they posted something from someone pushing for the abolishment of borders or putting white people in camps or some other stupid thing. I'm not going to defend that person, because they chose not to do their due diligence. By posting that they chose to associate themselves with that person and their absurd belief.

The lion symbol is cool, if I were running for president I'd love to have it if I didn't know it's background. But it does have a background, a background there is no excuse for Trump and/or his staff to be ignorant of when choosing to officially post it.

Pretty much this. While it should be concerning that so many white supremacist groups support Trump, that is not necessarily a two-way relationship. That video is very slick and well put together, and I don't think there's more to it than that.

No, that is not how this works. He made a decision to associate himself with the group who made that.
