Job 1:
- Large company
- No direct supervisor, pretty autonomous
- Plenty of opportunity for taking time off
- Really like the people

Job 2:
- Small company, don't like the people as much
- Have direct supervisor
- More restrictions on time off due to level of restrictions
- 30% more compensation than #1

Similar growth opportunities, commute, cost of living areas.

If you can live comfortably and can afford vacations with Job 1, Job 1.

If Job 1 causes finances to be a bit tight, Job 2.

Job 1 blows Job 2 out of the water. Sounds to me like you're already leaning towards that one.

If it wasn't obvious, Job 1 is obviously the current job. Pay bump would be huge going to the new firm but I really like working where I currently do.

So really it is how much do you value money.

Words that I live by are all jobs can be broken down to 3 aspects:

- The work you're doing
- The people you work with
- Compensation (money, vacation, benefits etc)

If when you say "don't like as much" as in "the people suck", I would probably go with Job 1. If instead you mean "these people are fine, but I like the people at Job 1 better", then I would actually suggest taking Job 2. Life is short and you will only work a handful of jobs. That money will immediately benefit you, but it will also make it easier to get more pay at whatever your next job is, so if you plan on job hunting again 3-5 years from now, go with job 2.

The only reason you shouldn't keep job 1 is if it's not going to pay your bills. Life IS short, which means you shouldn't be enslaved to a job you might not like for additional money.

Seeing as job 1 is your current job, is there any way you can - without a direct supervisor - leverage a negotiation for a raise with a new job offer on the line?

I've been through a somewhat similar situation where I took Job 2 about seven years ago, but the percentage increase was closer to 50%. However, I was able to use that money to do things I could never do with Job 1, so if you actually have a plan in mind on what to do with the income, it might be worth it.

job 2 if you're going to look for jobs again in a few years/feel your career is still on an upswing

tough though

Are you comparing how much you like people you've worked with for years vs people you just met for like an hour?

How many jobs have you had in this career anyways? It really sounds like you need to jump around and see what else it out there. Not the least because it's nearly impossible to get a 30% or 60% pay bump without jumping around. But you might be surprised at how much of your lifestyle preferences you can bring with you as well (more time off, etc).

I changed companies within the last year. And in my industry you know a lot of the locals because you go to the same events.

You might actually enjoy Job 2 when you start doing it. Like, how do you even know you don't like the people?

But the answer is more about what outlooks you have in life. Are you trying to make a career? Or are you okay with spending your life on the current pay grade?

Job security is very important too. Do any of those jobs look like they might fire you anytime soon?

I recently had a similar choice and I picked the one that sounded like your Job 1. I don't regret it. But it had other advantages, like closer to home and a more promising field. You need to look at all angles.
