Specifically ones that aren't dystopic, but showing how a recovered society is affected if it stays healthy.

think the cured is the only movie that fits the bill.

movie basically starts after a zombie virus has been cured and trying to deal with the previously infected.

How would you even cure zombies? That person's body would've already begun to rot and stuff.

If anything, you could just prevent the infection from spreading anymore, but there's no curing the people already affected.

I'm not looking for an explanation of the cure, but an exploration of what happens after. The best I can explain it is like how modern terrorism, even if it hasn't directly affected us, has changed our world, I want to see how our world would change following around a defeated zombie outbreak.

Not looking for a military or government story, just one set in the aftermath not about fighting it.

Uh...

No.

EDIT: Actually, Octillery, are you looking for a story where they cure the outbreak or one where civilization manages to recover from it?

Well, WWZ (the book) didn't cure the outbreak but it did focus on the world overcoming the outbreak and starting to rebuild. That's a kind of a cure.

The Newsflesh trilogy.

A little weird but good stuff. About online reporters covering the zombie outbreak and society's involvement and containment efforts with it.

You have to read, not watch of course.

Contaminated by Em Garner.

Its a YA book. The Zombies are more like the ones from 28 Days/Weeks Later.

It it focuses more on a teenage girl trying to take care of her mother after being cured. I dont remember if they were cured or whatever it was kinda ran its course.

unfortunately you only get a general sense of what the country/world is like as a whole.

Overall a pretty good book.

Cured, or at least mostly. It still might threaten some people but it never gets close to destroying society.

Real life. There was a small outbreak but it was immediately contained and blamed on bath salts.

I can't think of any, except Warm Bodies in which they actually cure the zombie plague.

World War Z, the book, is written from a post-zombie plague recovery period. In which the accounts are from people who survived. They never find a cure for the plague, but the world managed to recover from the brink of defeat, mostly eradicated the zombie hordes, and have learned to manage them.

Ah I missed the "cured" part in the topic title, thought it meant like an after the fact outbreak that has been mostly stopped/cured

The Shape of Things to Come sorta tackles this.

There's a disease which causes victims to wander aimlessly and infect others in a sort of precursor to modern zombie stories. The plague is ended when the last of the disease carrying victims are killed off. Society moves forward after that.

Came in to say this

It's good, but not quite what I'm looking for. Too horror light and dystopic.

If you don't mind the idea of World War Z, I can't recommend the audio book highly enough. It was a great one that I've listened through several times.
