After all the chaos of that day I just remember wanting to watch pokemon and instead watching the same coverage that I had been watching in school all day.

Yeah, lol. I had that problem even in Canada.

I get that it was a big fucking deal, but did it really need to be plastered across every channel for days (or what felt like days?) Pretty sure if people want to tune in to the news they know what channels to flip to.

See, I didn't even find out until I got home, and I was still upset that pokemon wasn't on.

I was 19 so wasn't bothered by lack of cartoons and wanted to watch the news...

...but that being said, yeah. Broadcast TV? Sure. Still a lot of people without cable or satellite. The cable news channels? Obviously!

But when literally EVERY channel switched over to whatever news network their parent company owned, it made no sense. If someone has Cartoon Network, TBS, and TNT, they also already have CNN. They will find the news if they want to see it.

Well, my biggest memory of 9/11 is how it was the first time in my life I felt pre-empting my programming for a special report was actually appropriate.

(At first anyway, not after all the broadcast networks did it for two weeks nonstop)

9/11 coverage was even on specialty channels like ESPN and QVC. It was crazy.

Nickelodeon was the one exception: they were showing the Wild Thornberries episode about the Galopagos turtles.

Wasn't QVC off the air? ESPN is owned by ABC so they pushed the ABC stream onto ESPN so that makes sense.

I was in the online game Unreal on 9/11 and first heard about what happened when my dad call me from his home and told me about it. After that I watched the coverage of it every day for several months and deep into 2002. And I still rewatch the documentaries about it.

I was always a news person anyway. Most games I play work well with Alt-Tab so I could just toggle to a web news site. Now I play games on one big screen while another big screen has news, a movie or some show.

I remember going on the Sonic Adventure chatroom (accessible in the main menu) and everyone put [USA] in front of their name

I've wondered if anyone saw their girlfriend or significant other do that, to put USA in front of their name in chat or anywhere else. Would you go along with her or your SO and do the same thing for your name to keep her happy or just to get along with her or your SO? Sorry if I sound unpatriotic to anyone, I was just wondering if some couples don't think exactly alike on such matters as USA symbols and such.

Yeah, all the major stations did. Some may have taken a little longer, and some may have reverted back sooner.

Here in Australia, I was watching 6 episodes of the Simpsons in a cartoon block, and the level of intrusiveness was no more than one of those scrolling lines of text at the bottom of the screen suggesting you swap over to the news to channel.
