I gave up on MH:W the combat is so mindless compared to mh4u and mhxx

and armor skills are seriously dumbed down so you dont feel special or unique experimenting with armor

and they took out most of the side stuff in the game that helped give you something else to do but grinding monsters all the time for that jewel that never drops

The slinger, hand hholding garbage.
the handler, Uhhhhhhh WTF was that about, made me wretch at all times.
The environment, there is no reason I should spend more time chasing a monster than wailing on it's soft parts.
60hours into world, 2000 in games before that.... Good job capcom.... Morons.

I don't think I played the game past when the first kulve and dumb farming of whatever the harder versions of the monsters were called for weapon upgrade stuff

actually surprised the game is still going

Only put like an hour into it so far.

Yeah same here felt like a time locked ftp grind without the option of paying to speed up the pain.

Even grinding for relic weapons in 4u wasnt as bad because it wasnt the same mission over and over.

it's not just grinding harder monsters for weapon upgrade crystals or whatever anymore eh? because that was the worst with the random drop rates and never getting the weapon type you wanted

I'm guessing you've never played an MMO or competitive game, because they both require way way more time. Also there's lots of lull periods between events anyway so it's a bad point.

They eventually give stuff to all regions, the Azure Starlord set was given. All the stuff that actually gives a big impact to gearing, everyone gets in a timely fashion.

Is now a good time to get into MHW? Ive had it forever but havent played much beyond the tutorial

I said the first part (requiring time) goes without saying. And I quit playing after I tried for a week to find someone from Japan hosting that quest. Now Ive missed a bunch of other armour I figure.

Its never a bad time to play a game in the series. I spent almost 600 hours on one char in the first game (when I was young and had the time to do so) and I had three.

It's the second best time to get into it considering Iceborne made a lot of players return to the game.

With that said, be prepared to spend a ton of hours on it as MH can be an extremely time consuming and sometimes repetitive game.

It's not even good armor it's event armor which is almost always terrible, whine most plox.

You're seriously complaining about one event armor. That wasnt even good anyway.

All you had to do was ask on gamefaqs or Reddit and you would have got the armor instantly. Then after that capcom had EVERY event out on multiple occasions to allow to get the armor and sword.

Yes @Mead it's a good time to get into the game if you end up enjoying it you could easily sink 100+ hours in.

I played with 2 friends last time, but honestly it was easier solo. At least back then monsters scaled with more players including more damage, so was easier to get killed in a group. I ended up fighting a bunch of the monsters solo because it was faster/easier that way and one of the friends I was playing with just kept dying a ton.

Might give it another shot, I got pretty far but didn't finish it, and now there is more content if I wanna get the expansion as well.

What system do you play it on Mead? I have it on PC.

I'd get Iceborne but I have the PC version so I'm waiting for 2020.

Considering the previous discussion about this game compared to previous ones, all I'll say is the only thing I truly dislike is that the Ancient Forest is far too labyrinthine. By far the most confusing area to navigate in the entire series.
