How hard is it to realize that you shouldn't be allowed to enter someone else's home and shoot them, even if you're confused

Status as a cop should have no bearing on how "illegal" or "justified" this is. You have a right to not be murdered in your own home.

But blue lives matter

I refuse to believe that he was charging at her like she claims. Moving towards her? Yeah most likely. But charging at her? Get outta here with that garbage. And so what if he were moving towards her, why wouldnt he be? Why wouldnt he be trying to investigate and figure out who this stranger was that walked into his apartment?

Like for real if he had shot her in the head he'd have a more legit defense than she does.

A large black man shooting a small white woman (and a cop to boot) in Texas?

Even if it would have been justified, I think it would have been more likely for him to have gotten prison time/death penalty than she would even see any sort of punishment.

Well I was born and raised in TX (Dallas too). Tell me how I'm naive, considering a case like this has never happened before. I'll wait.

But....it doesn't matter where you live. That doesn't make you an expert on these things.

I said what I said because look at how this is trial is going now. The defense is using stuff like castle doctrine which may work in their favor. Even though she broke the law and killed an innocent man. They played up her innocence and whiteness to gain sympathy. And there are still some of us that are afraid it might work because.....it's happened in the past. Innocent black men being killed for not breaking the law (or nothing to necessitate a death penalty) and the cops being unpunished.

Now flip that. The victim kills the cop for breaking into his home. Trials have already had black victims killed by cops treated as criminals and no punishment for their killers. You flip that with a dead cop and a living black man? Those odds are going to be stacked against him no matter the circumstances because at the end of the day, a cop is dead.

Oh and they played up her "whiteness" haha wtf? I've been watching the trial and the lawyers did not say "hey ya'll look she's white ok? Do I need to say anything else? Just so white and innocent!

Of course not. That would be absurd. What they did instead was dye her hair blonde, have her cry on the stand, have her speak softly, portray her as meek and harmless. All these things are subtle subconscious cues to play up her "whiteness" and none of it was on accident.

They also tried to have her court case heard in Collin County instead of Dallas County. For those of you that aren't familiar with the area, Collin county basically houses all of the rich suburbs of Dallas. In fact, IIRC, it's the richest county in Texas. And the communities there have a much higher racial makeup of white people than any other race.

And how the hell would you know that?

This your first trial or something? This is a common occurrence. There have literally been studies conducted that attempt to measure the effect of this very thing. Just last month, the defense tried have the trial moved to Collin County instead of Dallas County. Collin County is notably "whiter" than Dallas county and the defense knew exactly what they were doing when they requested it.

But all this future tripping and projection is really sad to see and it's seemingly everywhere. Cops have killed in the past so string her up for the sins of the others bullshit is not how justice should work.

I'm not projecting anything and my reasoning for wanting her in jail has nothing to do with what other cops have done. It has everything to do with the string of unreasonable actions she took that resulted in an innocent man being dead. You don't get to be wrong about literally everything, kill someone, and then say "Whoops my bad" like nothing happened. That would be a terrible precedent.

Literally no one is saying that.

The issue with stuff like this comes in four main issues:

1. The cop issue. Police have gotten off on a ton of charges, notably killing of innocent civilians. Black men have been the most public of victims but we have seen it happen with white people/non-black victims as well. We aren't saying she should be punished for the crimes of others. We are saying we are worried she won't be found guilty due to the other outcomes we have seen.

2. Black victims are generally portrayed as criminals no matter the circumstances. Stuff that was unrelated to the situation at the time. A man was murdered in a choke hold on camera and the cop got off. Yet I was always seeing how the victim was habitable offender of selling loose cigarettes. Never mind the fact he was breaking up a fight between two people when the cop showed up. The gun-permit holding father was gunned down. Oh but he had weed violations. Also the NRA didn't support him.

3. White women are played up as victims, pure and innocent. It doesn't always work obviously but there is a social construct in American society of white women being angelic beings needing protection. You see it when those moms kill their children.

4. Gun laws/rights don't work for black men. They just don't. The aforementioned gun-permit guy is one but you have a black man shot a cop even in self defense and you are going to get a lot of gang-banger connections, social media poses with guns, anything thug looking, etc, etc...

We aren't arguing against their lawyers. I would like to think we all agree in the basic ideals of the legal system and a fair and balanced representation. We don't have to like their tactics but I don't think we'd prefer to not have a form of justice in general.

I guess what I'm trying to say is you have a naive viewpoint on how this stuff would work and you are making arguments against stuff that none of us has said. If you don't understand what we are saying, that's one thing. But the majority of your posts have been purposefully obtuse and your style of argument just seems to be "STFU I'm from here, I know what I'm talking about" and pulling arguments out of thin air when they were never being discussed in the first place.

What evidence or reasoning is there to believe that Dallas jurors would be more or less swayed by media attention? The DFW area pretty much gets all the same media coverage dude so the chances of someone from Collin County hearing about it the trial through media is virtually the same.

metallica846 posted...
No, it had to be moved to the white haven to save her...

Again, is this your first trial? This is a common tactic used by defense attorneys. I mean, you can play dumb if you want to and that's exactly what the defense attorneys want. But the rest of us don't have to.

Interesting, because so far all you've done is show your naivete regarding how the court system works and the common tactics employed by defense attorneys. I mean, weren't you the same guy like 100 posts ago who didn't even know that they would read the text messages out in court? You're naive, and that's not inherently a bad thing but you're making yourself look bad by playing this plausible deniability game when other defense attorneys in the past have already told us why they do these things. Literally nothing they do is on accident. Every detail from her hair color to the clothes she wears is done with a purpose in these types of trials. Like I said, studies have been conducted on this.

Oh and your 20 years in Collin County means nothing to my 21 years in Collin County plus 10 in Dallas County.

Dude the racial makeup of White people in CC is 81%, in Dallas county its 50%

Stop playing obtuse. You know EXACTLY why they tried to get it moved there.

And I too have lived in Dallas,Collin, and Denton county for 100% of my life. Mostly in Collin
