I was reading one because I remember being both hilarious and awesome.
And I was in chapter 5 I think and there was a moment when I literally thought the author was going to kill off a bunch of the kids. It's a book for 8 year olds. I stopped reading after investing myself so much that I thought the author, Enid Blython, was going to murder off her mian characters a few chapters in, who are kids. BONUS QUESTION TIME! Is Enid Blython even known outside of the UK/Ireland? Like Famous Five, Secret Seven, etc. Keep in mind her books are from like the 1930s --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I read the Lord of the Rings books when I was about 8 or 9 & re-read them in my 20s around the time of the movies.
I didn't read a lot of typical "kids books" as a kid, mostly just sci-fi & fantasy stuff that my dad recommended. ... Copied to Clipboard!
