absolutely, I can say with confidence that it's a disappointment. it's not funny, the side missions are pointless, there's WAY too much waiting and listening to painful dialogue, and the characters are worse than 1, 2, and the pre-sequel

I haven't bought it yet. Been playing the TPS and 2 in the meantime though.

I'm waiting to get some idea of the amount of DLC that will exist and how it will be priced before getting into it. DLC'd BL2 is significantly better than vanilla BL2, and when playing TPS I really feel that lack of additional content.

But I've already done everything on TVHM Mayhem 3 so all that's left is farming legendaries and that gets old quick. Playing BL2's DLC while waiting on 3's.

It's all the fucking standing around waiting for whatever asshole to get done talking so I can advance that's killing it for me. I just beat Troy on TVHM, so not too long now, but I can already see that 2 of the characters will never get played because there's no fucking way I'm doing the story again. I'm not even sure I'll be able to bring myself to do UVHM.

There is no UVHM as far as I know. Just TVHM and the Mayhem system

Just use a friend at lv50 in competitive mode. A few bosses on TVHM Mayhem 3 should get you up to lv30 in an hour I guess. Still need to try it myself but that's how I did it in BL2.

Almost all the maps I really dislike are maps with buzzards. That and Caustic Caverns. But most of the others I enjoy. I will admit, Wildlife Exploitation Reserve used to piss me off, but it grew on me as I played more.

Ah Sawtooth. That one fucking badass thresher randomly in the map. The gigantic, open area absolutely surrounded by enemy spawns (which I always just run past now). The buzzards. That annoying inside area. And of course, shooting down the buzzards at the top of the tower.

For me, it's Veins of Helios (TPS). It is a ridiculously boring and tedious map. At least with Sawtooth I can run past a lot of it (though, admittedly, not all of it).

Edit: And my favorite map is definitely Bloodshot Stronghold (big surprise).

I felt burnt out on the first Borderlands. Never understood the appeal beyond being the first real ARPG for console, I beat it once and didn't even know or think I could say if the game was fun or had any depth to it. The game was like a fever dream that I'm not completely sure happened or not.

Granted I do only have 1 playthrough on the most barebones series experience (first game with no DLC) but seeing BL3 gameplay, it just looks like the same game I played back in middle school.

Here's a question: where the FUCK is the player in the cutscenes?? Even from a far off shot, you're nowhere to be found, it's just Tannis, Ava, and Lilith all day long.

Things like Fable, Deus Ex and Kingdom Hearts existed on consoles well before Borderlands though. It was never the first real ARPG by any definition. The improvements between 2 and 3 are noticeable from practically the moment you grab the controller. BL3 plays kinda like Doom 2016 in terms of movement speed and overall hectic things happening.

I wasnt a fan of Jakobs Cove dlc in blands 1 so idk why they brought it back. Wish we got an ocean themed planet.

The second visit to Pandora really hammers home how rushed the rest of the game is. The level design is a lot more polished and thought out (and really just better, driving corridors aside), the side content is FAR better than what the rest of the game has on offer, etc. The mine is probably my favorite level in the game, and it seems like way more time was spent on it than earlier sections; it feels far more like a Borderlands level, has actual vending machines! and there are noticeably fewer spots where the ground doesnt actually line up with what your character is standing on.

I think there are basically 2 cutscenes in BL2 that aren't character intros.

The first is when Jack kills Roland and kidnaps Lilith, which is shown from your POV. People did complain about "why didn't your character just shoot Jack?", especially considering there were six other people in the room besides Lilith and Roland. But I think the excuse is that "it happened so fast." But you are directly addressed by Jack.

The second is the ending, but it's only a minute or two and nothing of consequence really happens in that scene, and you're mentioned in it. Plus, the real meat and potatoes of the ending is gameplay.

So the reason you don't remember the cutscenes is because there were almost none of them, most likely to avoid people asking "where the fuck is the player?" as they do in BL3.

In fact, in what I think is the last cutscene in Tiny Tina, all of the Vault Hunters actually appear. The only cutscene in BL2 that had a sense of "where is the player?" is the last cutscene of the Commander Lilith DLC where the VH is not addressed at all.

Edit: My point being: the reason it wasn't a big deal in the previous games is because either 1) the presence of the player character is acknowledged or 2) nothing important happens in the scene.

But all in all, I am about burned out on BL3. I love the game, but the hotfixes get annoying. And some of the glitches and the slow menu makes it an annoyance to go through.

tbh I have absolutely no fucking clue where this idea of Borderlands as a series with rich and enthralling post-game content comes from, leveling/questing and getting gear in my travels w light farming is what has always appealed to me and I feel like it is largely just idiot-ass people getting duped into letting gbx be lazy

The nerfs this week were terrible, it really feels like every gun or piece of gear I enjoy using will get the nerf. Like I always feel rushed to farm the good gear that I don't have, and the Hex was nerfed today before I ever got to use it. I'll probably go back to playing FE3H or start something else, because there's no point to farming for gear that won't be any good by the time I get them. Mayhem 3 is about to feel much worse for me now.

Kinda insane. This game is more generous than even TPS. I got 8 Legendaries to drop the other day during a circle of slaughter and I was only on Mayhem 1.

I got one at level 25 and was worried I wouldn't get to use a lv. 50 version before it or FL4K got nerfed again. I was right, so now in addition to not being able to spam it during Fade Away it's weaker too.

Currently I'm having fun with a Tediore shotgun that walks towards enemies and does a MIRV explosion, and the Brainstormer. Mark my words one of those will be nerfed soon.

The small amount of unique drops per bosses/named enemies doesnt help. There are too many things in a universal pool and they drop too frequently. It makes farming less focused and then they upped drop rate of legendary weapons too high to compensate.

Yeah it sucks farming for specific gear. The Butcher and Hex may as well be myths to me.

Also I wanted to mention that if any of you get a shock Protuberance(alien barrel Torgue shotgun) and the Transformer, try them out together because it's pretty fun. Firing once at my feet fully restores shields, wrecks mobs, and I just two shotted first Traunt on Mayhem 3. I was killing myself earlier with the gun and then I remembered I had a shield that could help me not die <_<

Only BL2 has a decent end game, and only with OP levels + a few of the bigger content DLCs imo. To be fair, NVHM is kinda ass in BL2 as well. The game isn't even that fun until ~lvl 30 imo. At higher levels, skill trees really start to have a heavy influence on your weapon choice and playstyle, and the difficulty at OP8/10 is such that you kinda need to play and build well around your character to actually do well. This makes playing the same content with a different character a different enough experience to do it (at least partially - I used gibbed to skip a lot of UVHM grinding).

Base game BL2 is not much different from base game BL1 - that is to say basically no interesting end game. But adding a lot of gear, fun maps and new quests, raid bosses, and the ability to replay things at max level adds a lot to the experience imo. I don't enjoy the grinding though, and will admit I only ever grinded out one character to max level without gibbed. I've played ~300 hours of BL2 and that's with unhindered gibbed usage to skip mindless leveling and legendary farming (I can see why some enjoy this, but I very much do not like this aspect of the game).

Aside from mules and new characters for playing with friends I mostly just stuck to one file for each of the six vault hunters. I've only played BL3 with one other person so far, so the other three are just my mains(two are at 50). I'm playing offline right now to dodge the hotfixes, but that's just temporary. If I wanted to use no red text purples or shit legendaries like the Sawbar, Bearcat, etc. I'd do that. Good thing I didn't get the season pass at release like I was planning.
