At a glance it seems the only major difference is the store card has 5% cashback while Visa credit card has 3% cash back. Store card offers 0% interest payment plans for certain tiers of spending while the Visa credit card varies on whether or not such promotion exist. Store card is done through Synchrony while the Visa credit card is done through Chase.

The store card seems ideal for those large purchases if you do not want to drop a massive payment all at once but at the same time that seems like a dangerous approach as it could lead to careless spending.

If you have both cards, what is your reason to obtain both?

I have the Amazon credit card, which is a visa.

My credit card has automatic payments, which essentially makes it a debit card.

I don't really worry about overspending since I'm pretty responsible with money

I am thinking about getting the Amazon credit cards. 5% back is a lot.

I am also thinking about the Citi double cash credit card, which gives 2% back on everything purchase.

I know some cards do 3%, 2%, and 1% back, but there is usually some caveat, like rotating categories or only in a category of your choice. Maybe if I did more research, I'd know which one suits me best, but 2% back on everything is a lot simpler.

As for cards that I have, my first Visa from my bank, which is only used to pay for Netflix and a BofA travels rewards card (also a Visa).

I do. But I have around 8 cards. Cards do cause reckless spending so if that's a concern avoid em altogether. IMO if you can avoid a credit card habit do it.

I have both and I'm pretty sure the store card only works on Amazon.com and the Amazon Visa works everywhere? I have both because there was some deal once where you got $100 for getting the store card or something but I only ever use the Amazon Visa.

I did have to stop myself from getting too caught-up with the various cashbacks and offers. I had an Old Navy credit card for maybe a year or two until I realized I only shop there less than a handful times a year so the extra deals with the card wasn't worth it enough to have the card.

Fair enough. I currently have the Amazon Visa credit card but always see those -$40 or whatever on your next purchase with the Amazon store card offers constantly on the website. Not sure if I have seen higher for a long while.
