In 1st grade, I remember getting a ton of anxiety about my inability to read, so Id bluff through every single instance in class where I had to do it. My writing wasnt anything to write home about either. It got to the point that my parents had to sign me up for a summer course specifically made for it.

now, I think I can read well. I think. But Ive worked as an editor, so I think Ive jumped past that writing hurdle!

Public speaking. Never liked getting in front of the class or talking to a lot of people. I'd rush through it or just completely avoided it if I could.

Sex, I guess. Didn't do it much as a child.

I couldn't read a clock until third grade, and I didn't understand fractions until fourth.

"What do you mean 3 out of 4? That means I have 3."

I remember they explained it to me with baskets of apples, 3/4s full... But that meant I had 3 apples in my head.

Now I'm a programmer and I excel at reading clocks.

It also took me way too long to understand amps vs watts and volts and ohms.

So much stuff. I couldn't tie my shoes, hold a pencil, ride a bike (until I was close to 10), or do much that required coordinated movements. And I had a lot of meltdowns.

I can do all that, mostly keep my shit together, and look people in the eye now. Go me

I wouldn't say i excel at it per say but when i was a kid i used to be shy and not very talkative.

Now, depending on who im with, i can be the life of the party.

I was very sensitive and self-conscious as a child, and I'd burst into tears every time I got criticized or yelled at. Now when I get criticized, I'll most likely laugh and agree.

Nope, I still suck at the same stuff I used to. Im just better at changing a tire than I was in Elementary school.

I still stutter occasionally but it is a night and day difference between now and how I was as a kid.

Me too! I think I just focused on what was right because I'm right-handed, and that's how I figured it out.

When I was working at Home Depot I saw one of the cashiers there telling a customer where something was. She needed to tell him it was on the left side. But she paused, brought her right hand up, made a quick writing motion, then proceeded to tell him it was on the left side of the aisle. She had to ghost write in the air to remember which was right and left. She knows that she is right handed so this is how she remembers right from left. I couldn't help myself and started busting up. I had to tease her about it for little while.

Talking to people/raising my voice so people can hear me across a room. One thing im grateful about my time in fast food on the latter. You wont do well running a kitchen if people cant hear you.
