Actually, I decided to just go ahead and watch it now!

The first episode was pretty good. Nothing amazing, but it does its job of establishing the setting, as well as establishing the Mandalorian as "guy you do not want to mess with." They also give you a nice twist at the end to keep you coming back for more. That's basically what you want the intro episode to do for a show like this. I enjoyed the bounty droid, too. He was pretty great.

Also, I totally thought that was Lando at the beginning, until I realized that it was Carl Weathers, not Billy Dee Williams...!

I do need to finish up Mob Psycho 100 sometime soon, and I'd like to get back into Dragon Ball, too. Maybe once I finish up CS3, I'll invest more time into watching stuff. I'll have a bit of a gaming lull at that point.

I'm pretty happy with the Chapter 3 team. Rean and Gaius do pretty good damage, Rean and Jusis keep delaying enemies, Alisa/Emma support/AoE. Though Alisa is much faster and I prefer that. Gaius seals whatever is left.

I haven't invested much in quartz though. Just focusing on unlocking slots. But it's going pretty well.

Decided to check out another Disney+ original and watched the first episode of The World According to Jeff Goldblum. It goes into detail about the sneaker industry, and it was kind of mind-blowing to see how much goes into it and how much money people spend on shoes.

But really, if you enjoy seeing Jeff Goldblum be Jeff Goldblum (and I do), then that's all you need.

Also, I see that they've got the '90s Spider-Man cartoon series on here. I might have to go back and re-watch that one all over again. That was my superhero show of choice growing up, over Batman or X-Men.

CS3 Chapter 3 beated.

Well, uh... that day really went places.

I feel like the emotional high point was Sara's plea to the Northern Jaegers. She and Aurelia were the MVPs of this chapter for sure. Unfathomed Force for the Arianrhod battle aww yeah. 3D Grand Cross aww yeah. Easy fight though because lmao Millium's Brave Order is basically invincibility and Aurelia is godmode. I feel like Rean and Old Class VII shouldn't be that surprised she has a Divine Knight though. They found a door like the one in the old Schoolhouse at Lohengrin Castle! In fact, the old Class VII team here (minus Sara) were literally all on the Legram trip!

While the Stahlritter were trading backstories... I assume the cult that Ennea was from is the DG cult but the only thing that has me questioning that is she lacks the golden eyes that the other known survivors have. They say she was an assassin though so maybe she wasn't part of the experiment groups but like the daughter of a cult member? Unless the whole assassin thing is meant to imply she's from Moonlight Horse but it would be weird for Sharon to leave that part out when she was explaining the members Ouroboros took in. Also, "all books in trails are real" continues with Rose. Simultaneously confirming her as the witch who guided Dreichels/Lianne and as the Hexen Clan Elder. Looks like she said the wrong thing to Arianrhod at the end there because she was quite curt in peaceing out of that conversation!

The Emperor and Osborne both seem to be in on the whole "history repeating" thing that Vita had been talking about, though Osborne makes it sound like they to have it proceed under their terms by starting the civil war when they wanted to. Poor Olivier looks like he's been kicked to guard duty for the festival.

Also crossing the Black Record that gets decoded at chapter end with the Imperial Chronicle you can get at the start of Chapter 4 is pretty ominous! The Black Record is basically just an abbreviated recap of the Salt Pale Door in 3rd written from a more neutral position but then it drops that there might be a fragment of the original Salt Pale the Church didn't get at the site and that the Intelligence Division is investigating what had been the restricted zone pre-annexation. Then the Imperial Chronicles details that the field exercise that Cedric and the main campus were on raided an archaism factory presumed to belong to Ouroboros. Both the Salt Pale location and the Archaism Factory are stated to be near the capital of North Ambria. So uh... either Ouroboros or the Intelligence Division might have a peice of the Salt Pale. "cool."

...And of course, BETRAYALTON at Heimdallr. Angelica is rewarded for being the one person smart enough to see Azure Siegfried and go "oh **** this, i'm digging up crow's grave i know how this works" by getting shot. Also George Nome the cheeky bastard was hiding in plain sight! The scene did cut away without showing us the outcome but given the situation not looking good for Angelica there.

that was all... kinda crazy

Strongest chapter so far in a game consisting only of strong chapters.

Beat Cold Steel 3

Have some qualms (notably Chapter 4's big dungeon/lack of a real antagonist besides a monster), but overall an incredible game. Feel pretty okay calling this my favorite in the series, or at the very least it's hanging with Sky SC at the top.

Favorite parts were definitely (end of Chapter 1) visiting Hamel, (end of Chapter 3) Sara's backstory/Northern Jaeger stuff and storming Juno WITH AURELIA, and the ending at least up until the point where Rean literally does the one thing they wanted to prevent, that kinda sucked. Feel like I could have enjoyed Chapter 2 more if I'd played the Crossbell games rather than just watching them a while back, but it was still excellent.

New Class VII ranking: Altina >= Rean >= Juna > Kurt > Ash > Musse, but Aurelia might be better than all of them

time to wait for Zero/CS4

I still don't really even know what happened in the part you're talking about at the end of the game. (Or more accurately why it happened I guess) Did he just randomly lose control of his power again like on the Northern War? Was it triggered somehow by Osborne or the Curse? Why didn't Osborne just do everything himself? Hoping they explain this in CS4 ever, assuming that I didn't miss something.

Honestly for most of the fights that mattered (in the 2nd half of the game anyway) Altina never got a turn despite being in my main 4 >.>

I had her use the Master Quartz that revives her if she dies so that she was a failsafe in case something went wrong somehow. Than I also gave her whatever the space bell quartz was and set her up as a caster.

I didn't really use Altina much. My Class VII party was mostly Juna breaking things, Ash wrecking the broken things, and Musse on support/magic. And then Rean ending most random encounters in basically one turn because Domination + CP recovery for killing enemies meant he could just Gale forever

Yeah, I've mainly been rocking Rean/Juna/Kurt/Ash this chapter, and it's been working well. Altina has bad speed but really good defense so she's a surprisingly good tank. I also put the auto-revive Master Quartz on her for good measure.

Also my main issue so far is that no one in the main Class VII has a really good healing craft yet. I'm sure that'll come with time and I haven't really needed it yet, but still.

And it feels like the recipes haven't been as good for HP healing yet either, but again, there's time to change.

I really dont like the final evolution of Sobble. Grookeys is probably the best, but I like Scorbunny/Sobble a lot more than Grookey itself...

I dont like monkey business so Grookeys out right off the bat. It came down to Sobble and Scorbunny and I think both their evolution routes are neat but Im leaning Scorbunny right now. I guess Ill find out when I make the call!

New Class VII rankings so far: Altina > Juna > Ash > Musse > Kurt. Aurelia v Altina might give me some pause but otherwise she would be beating them all.

As for Altina in combat, I mostly use her for cleanup because Brionac is a pretty cheap AoE with good coverage. Fragrach is also a great break art if the others haven't accomplished it yet. Basically, I use her to handle anything that Rean/Juna/Ash missed. Replacing her with Kurt or Musse would probably be optimal but whatever.

As for silly broken tactics, I have Ash Rean's starter MQ and if I really just want to trivialize a fight, you can just use his Unleashed Rage craft for the STR buff, wait 2-3 turns for the MQ's passive recovery to bring him back to 200 CP and then unleash his S-Craft. Unleashed Rage being up means he's recovering 50 CP by default, and depending on the number of enemies his S-Craft kills you're gaining like 16-20 CP for each of them, you can end the fight with Ash at like 160 CP despite just using an S-Craft that turn lol. Rean is busted in general too, of course.

As for healing, yeah, I've honestly kinda got the impression that the expected way to play is to not take heavy damage. Rean has a Brave Order that cuts all incoming damage in half and it also is a 10% heal so that combined with the weaker healing crafts at your disposal (Altina and Musse) and I almost never find myself in a situation where my health is critical. And of course Altina's Brave Order is a blanket reflect, and depending on your guests you have other defensive ones. In boss fights, I usually try to have one of those up on the enemy turn.

I... think this was explained in 3? I don't want to give the answer, just in case I'm wrong. But even if it wasn't, the pieces are all there to figure it out IMO.

I think the average quality of the new Class VII is better, but I think the top tier of the old Class VII is right there with it.

The best of Old Class VII (Fie, Jusis) is better than New Class VII, but on average New Class VII wins I think, yeah. Helps it's a smaller group so time/attention doesn't have to be as divided.

GTS removal doesn't affect me but of course I sympathize. What bothers me is that supposedly every route is short and linear and the last four badges are all super quick. I hope I don't feel too irritated about that stuff whilst playing, but there's a reason I'm going to check out Platinum for the first time sometime soon.

The Expanse is so good. Every rewatch confirms it for me. That first scene between Holden and Johnson is so well-acted. I've not always been fond of Steven Strait's performance in this series but when he's good he's great.
