  1. They'd fail miserably trying to apply for a job these days.
Boomer: *Hands in resume* Let me speak to your hiring manager
Hiring Manager: I am the hiring manager. Please go to our web portal and apply there. We will call you if we feel you qualify.
Boomer: What's a web mortal? Also, let me speak with your manager

2. I have seen a ton of boomers re-join the work force and trust me, they hate it. They even hate their clerical jobs because it requires them to use a computer, remember passwords email and use a spreadsheet. And it'll pay from 9 dollars to 15. Their paycheck is like 300-400 per week after benefits and tax. They can't do shit.

It's okay, soon they will all be dead

And since there will be no old fucks who cling to telephone support any more, there will be plenty of chill chat-only customer support jobs popping up left and right. The problem will revulva itself!

That may not be a bad tactic though. Applying for stuff online makes it insanely easy for the company to say 'no'. Sitting down to have a discussion with a manager may provide a strong foot in the door for hiring purposes. Some people may be loathe to admit it, but hiring practices can often be done on a social basis. That's why there's the joke about job postings stating "The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience doing this exact job and be willing to take half of their previous pay." Submitting a resume online for that process is largely a waste of time.

They act that way because they don't know any better and refuse to acknowledge things have changed.

Back in their day, there were more jobs than people. A dollar was a lot of money too, it could buy you a liter of milk, a newspaper, a serving of fried chips, a movie ticket, and have enough change left over to ride the train home.
