Yeah, Im totally good on standing there in front of my whole town while you rifle through my bags and check my receipt. I have a job and if I was going to steal..... it wouldnt be from Walmart.

I have actually mostly stopped going to Walmart because of this. If youre so incapable of managing thefts with a theft prevention staff, then dont single out customers and take it out on them.

I've never done it and don't intend to, but I've always thought Sam's would be super easy to steal from... they have self checkout and usually the person checking your receipt and cart on the way out doesn't pay any attention at all. >_>

Theyve gotten me so many times. Usually its no big deal, but once you notice other customers pointing and staring, then it definitely gets embarrassing.

My brother just held up a credit card in the bag checkers face once and kept walking. If I ever go again, thats what Im going to do.

LOL, I work at Walmart and one of my coworkers is this older Italian guy from the Bronx (early 60s). He and his wife were shopping one day and he takes the cart to leave after they're done. It was kinda slow, so the guy standing by the door had literally seen them ring up and pay for their stuff. He pulls the "can I see your receipt" thing, and my coworker threatened to punch him "in the fuckin' throat". ^_^

Never understood why they dont have those people watching a boundary on the other side of the registers.

That way once you get in line they just have to make sure you either buy or set aside any items and let people go on their way.

Scan receipt, scan random item, guesstimate that there's a correct number of items.
It's plausible to shoplift there, I guess, but you'd need to buy a large number of things, and get lucky with that random item.

...or steal something that would fit in a pizza box. Those don't get checked very well.

i haven't been in a walmart since i left rural north carolina - and there, if there's a 'greeter' or bag-checker near the door, they're just chattin' it up with another local. sometimes in the way of the door lmao

Yeah actually if there is anyone standing over in that area they are usually in the middle of a conversation with someone. I don't really frequent Walmart that often but I've never been stopped on the occasion I'm there.

One time a receipt checker followed me outside and I complained to their manager and they did nothing.

They only added the receipt checkers to my local one when they did away with all the cashiers and switched to just self-checkout.

Instead of bag checks they should just have membership cards to check at the entrance when letting people in. Then if they catch someone stealing merchandise their membership gets blacklisted and they arent allowed to enter anymore.

They should hire people to stand at every single self check out and make sure the customer is ringing up every item properly, only way to get rid of receipt checkers.

They literally only check you if you have a large unbagged item, just like they did before they replaced door greeters with... Overpaid door greeters.

Don't get me wrong, the position can fuck right off, but that's because they get paid more than I do to stand around with their thumb up their ass most of the day.

When I was in Florida, the guy came up to my cart to stop me and had to scan every single unbaggable item to see if I paid for them. Lol. Like... You can't figure out what it what on a receipt?

If you're that offended, just go to a different store that doesn't treat you like a criminal for shopping there.

I didn't mind showing it, but now they are scanning a barcode on it and scanning the barcode on any unbagged items like a 12 pack of soda.

Why the hell do they not do paid stickers? Even at self checkout you should be able to be done your order and ask the person at self checkout for a paid sticker if you have am item thats not bagged like a 12 pack of soda.

They're really only trained to stop you if you have an un-bagged item or there's something under your cart. Not justifying anything but I'd imagine Walmart really started enforcing this at the doors when they started phasing out cashiers (who were supposed to make sure everything is being scanned at the registers) and put more focus on self check-outs.

I do laugh at the people who think the company runs some advanced security checking scheme though HAAAAAAAAA most associates don't care if you steal 20,000 dollars in shit, only AP cares about that type of shit frankly, the company realizes it's unwillingess to properly staff to do to running on razor thin budgets for most stores means the stores just easily write off the theft losses. poor product replenishment and fucked up counts lose the stores WAY much more money.

At my store they only check if you have large unbagged items. I guess others actually check bags, but only because theft is really high at that store.

So honestly, I guess blame people for stealing that Wal-Mart is resorting to shit like this. I've heard they're actually gonna have a system where the exit door stays locked if you have merchandise unless you scan your receipt at the door. That's how bad theft is getting.

Our Costco does this, except instead of just spot checking every few customers or looking out for unbagged items, they insist on checking everyone's cart and receipt which results in you having to wait in line just to have your shit checked and leave the store. They only ever have one person at the door and they are very persistent and downright rude if you try to bypass it

Obviously you would expect to have to show a receipt for something worth several hundred (or more) dollars. We are talking about groceries or maybe a shirt or something, mostly.

Buckets or garbage cans are guaranteed to be checked, and those things dont bother me.
