It's really surprising how much lack of publicity this game has gotten. Not that it was ever a massive hit or anything, but usually the return of a cult classic is enough for there to generate loads of reviews. There's a grand total of like 4 or 5 on Metacritic.

Either way, I'll download this ish and post my thoughts ITT later.

No problem. For a little bit of background, the first Rune was a PVP action game based on Viking folklore. I believe it had a campaign, but I didn't get too far.

This game has a 100% singleplayer campaign if that's what you're interested in.

It's definitely a little rough around the edges. It seems pretty ambitious which is nice, but it definitely has that open-source game type of feel to it. You'll see what I mean in a moment. I started recording a few minutes into it and I have about 30 mins of me wandering aimlessly trying to figure out how to make a boat lol

But you do get to see a bit of the combat and animations. One thing to note is that it definitely feels like it was made with a M+KB in mind. The controller was kind of awkward and I'm pretty sure there's no way to open the journal directly through it.

Other than that, it's got some performance hiccups which I read about from the few reviews I did find. It isn't the prettiest looking game, but that doesn't bother me too much. When my footage is uploaded, you'll see it on mostly Ultra settings. I put Shadows on medium and draw distance on High. Textures and Particles are both on Ultra. Everything else is Very High.

I don't totally regret my purchase, but I am glad I opted for the basic version whereas I was originally considering getting one of the two deluxe editions. I still want to see what all the game has to offer, because that appears to be quite substantial at first glance. We'll see after I get over the hump of the first island.

Still looking around for answers on building the raft and then I'll probably do a part 2.

Looks good. Do you play as a Norse god?

The controller part is a little upsetting but its also about time I become versatile with KB&M too so not a problem.

I can't tell if you're a god or not. From what little I've played so far, it seems like you're an Einherjar risen from the grave to stop Ragnarok(aka kill Loki).

And if you don't feel like doing M+KB, the controller is still more than doable. It just took me a bit of getting used.

Why would you buy a game off the Epic Store?

So here's Part 2:

I really think I'm going to end up refunding this game for now. It's just too messy and I'm afraid most of it's going to be very similar to the first 30-40 minutes that I've played so far.

Because I'm not a shill for Steam and am perfectly okay with them having some competition.

I, too, dream of a world where a competitive market didn't exist

True competitiveness would be allowing the games to be on every platform equally so the person can choose which storefront they want to support.
