If you were fucking the God of Thunder for years you'd be a little Thor too.

I think people were mostly upset by the quality of the writing of that era. and not the concept itself. One time in the comics during that time, she is fighting 2 villains, who are a man and a woman. and the man ends up saying something sexist during the fight. and then I think the female villain turns on him and helps Jane beat him up and then surrenders and says something about women sticking together

This. I mean, there's probably some people with valid critiques of the writing during that time. But most of the focus was not on the writing and more the fact that they dared to have a woman take the title of Thor in the first place. So....

But seriously, it was shitty writing and I thought the concept was dumb.

It wasn't like with Sam Wilson taking up the Captain America mantle. Thor isn't just Thor's superhero persona, it's literally who he is. It's his name. You can borrow his power by wielding Mjolnir, but you don't really become Thor. Unless you've got oldschool shenanigans in which Thor is inside you and wielding Mjolnir manifests him materially.

But the way they were trying to play it out was "she isn't Miss Thor or Lady Thor, she is THE Thor". And that was dumb.
