Let's say something really crazy happened and you got 10 billion dollars. I don't know, inheritance, good investments, great technology idea, something like that. The important thing is you now have that money totally tax free. You can do whatever you want with it. What would you do?

Also, you get to make an additional 1 billion a year provided you invest 1 million in your stocks/business, but only if you invest. If you do that, you'll make money year after year instead of worrying about the principal balance.

That's a hell of a return.

Anyhow, I'd invest a fair bit then start throwing money at tech and medicine.

I currently give grantwriting services free to veterans groups, I'd likely fund any vet's group that's ever contracted me.

Hire an army of paleographers to start on manuscript identification and cataloging in European collections.

Then? Whatever. Probably live much like I do today.

Well then 1) of course I'd invest the measly 1 million for an extra 1 billion a year, and 2) I don't know, I guess I'd buy my own home, make sure my brother and parents are reasonably taken care of, and buy a lot of video games and furry-related stuff.

Oh, I'd also open a public arcade focused primarily on pinball but with other stuff too I suppose.

Id probably keep working until I hit a point where I no longer enjoyed what I do. I probably would also pay off my mortgages and invest it with that return, but also look at other strategic investment opportunities given the scale.

Probably straight off either donate a billion, or maybe set it up to be invested and permanently donate the interest each year. Set up pretty much every single member of my family for life, even ones I've never met. Probably travel for a few years seeing as I could afford a private jet and the best hotels. Then just continue as I've been, with a much better lifestyle.

Donate 1 billion to cancer research, invest 100 million into a company thats developing the tech to create copies of your brain so you can live forever and spend the rest of my money on a nice house and vacations in exotic places

I'd buy a bunch of species of rare, dangerous animals and put them all in an arena and fight them.

Go to med school, make my family rich, donate, buy a beachside house and have a dedicated section just for my birds

Pay off my mortgage, buy better car, give my family a bunch, start investing the rest. Probably stick out my job until I got bored or they go out of business. Then I'd probably try to open my own business and bankroll my own research. I'm very interested in finding biomarkers for epilepsy and also in the idea of hypermethylation in epilepsy, so I'd probably buy my own lab and research that.
