I did a dumb thing that I could have withstood when I was younger. I was changing the light bulbs in the house and hopped off the step stool instead of stepping off. I landed on the soft ball of my big toe and pain instantly shot through it. It wasn't too bad until 3 days later.

I guess it's the sesamoid part of the foot I was reading. Worst nagging pain I've ever experienced.

I'm taking ibuprofen, icing the area, and currently have kt tape around the area.

The pain is giving me a limp and just sprung me out of my sleep and I've been laying here for a hour with it.

Sucks cause I gotta be up for a back to back 16 hour shift in a couple hours with my nursing job.

It's in the toe so I'll allow it.

I have big doubts I'll make it. I'll force my way through it because the money is good and I'm responsible for all the med passes. I'm planning to lean to the left and walk slower.

I have had a few. My worst injury has left me with the "ability" to rotate my right foot 180 degrees. It grosses people out when they ask me to show them.

Should probably get that checked out. Limping around is not fun.

Worst I've done is drop one of those old giant heavy ass box TVs on my big toe years ago.

I'm the type that waits a week or two before going to the doctor. I'm not insured so I try to avoid it if I can treat it at home. I'm hoping it's not that bad though.

Do you mean bruising or pain? the plantar fascia is a pretty common culprit in foot injuries

No pops.

Thats good that means its probably not a tear, it could be a partial dislocation but then the area would usually bruise and go purple. Dont rule out gout either until you get it looked at.

But it put a good damper on 2019.
I got my middle toe pretty good earlier this year.

Yeah no bruises or discoloring thankfully. I'm pretty sure it's not gout since I stay away from meat too.

I was heavily favoring sesamoiditis. Apparently this could last 2-4 weeks as long as I keep up with what I'm doing for treatment. Luckily I just work these 2 days a week so I'll have 5 in between to rest.

Hurt my foot in May 2018 and it's still not okay and ortho don't know exactly what's wrong despite x-rays and MRI. I fell and landed on my big toe. This gave me lots of pain, mosty in joint closest to the foot. I had to go on long term sick leave, at first I was off work for month or so, then started going back slowly and increasing my hours. Nothing really helped until I finally got a cortisone shot in the joint. Had to get another one 5 months later. And now 6 months since the last time it's acting up again so I may need a shot later.

Ortho is saying I may get arthitis and if I do they have to do a arthrodesis surgery on it, making me unable to move the joint.

What possibly caused the pain was something to do with fluid buildup and inflamation deep in the joint.

I was just comparing it to my left toe and it does look a bit wider than the left. I guess it is swollen. No discoloring or bruising though.

Alternating ice with heat packs might help as well, when I played football I used to get bad tendonitis in my feet and my right patella tendon and if cold didnt help then heat usually would

Dropped a wooden pallet on the center of my foot once. Thought it was broken, but X-rays showed it wasn't. Still, I couldn't put any weight on it for like two weeks, nor could I wear a shoe on that foot.
