I havent played the games nor read the books either but I JUST finished season 1.

Very enjoyable Fantasy stuff.

But whats the show about? Like whats the plot?

The TV series is an adaptation of the books. The games take place a few years after the books.

Basic premise-- medieval fantasy world where Witchers are monster hunters that have undergone special rituals in order to allow them to have the powers they need to kill things normal humans can't deal with. Geralt underwent more than most, hence why he's basically an albino & thus his nickname of the White Wolf.

On top of that, lots of political stuff, magic, elves, dwarves, yada yada. The games get a ton of praise because of the writing & the characters.

So are they bounty hunters?

The plot is multi-layered. Ostensibly, it's about a group of humans made mutant, who go around the countryside, slaying monsters and men who are monsters. They are the Witchers. The plot is less about them, and about how they deal with the world around them, as it's full of low fantasy Intrigue - class warfare, racism, bigotry, etc.

Yeah, they're pretty much bounty hunters. They're both respected and feared, because of the powers they have.
