NC 17, X, AO etc, all are taboo ratings because they are for ages 18 and over, across the pond both ways you can buy and sell 18 rated films and games and books no problem. But in the US they are banned and forbidden by society.

most of the 18+ ratings in europe are the equivalent of the 17+ ratings in the US
