what happened at the end? It makes it seem like Patrick didn't actually kill all those people (including Paul Allen) and it was just all in his head. Is that what really happened? >_> I mean that 1 night, he killed like 10 people in a row and blew up a cop car with just a handgun. Seems pretty unrealistic lol

I laugh everytime I see the ATM scene. The movie is so ridiculous. It's farce. A satire of the times, comparable to Starship Troopers or something of that nature.

It's open ended. You can either take it to mean he imagined the whole thing, or you can take the more cynical approach that the property agent didnt want a murder scene ruining their sale prices so they covered it up. The whole movie is a satire of capitalistic greed in the first place.

So was him working out and getting a ripped body a fantasy too? Since apparently he's meek and no one notices him and confuses him with other people constantly

I listened to the rat scene from the book and it fucked me up for years.

I still can't do anything with the IP.

The violence of the movie is actually really toned down. The book is, well... gratuitous, to say the least.

Everyone looks and acts the same and we see Patrick being called multiple different names. The people are so self centered and alike in dress and personality that they mix each others names up. The lawyer could have really had dinner with Paul in London or it's possible he had dinner with some other Wall Street yuppie who he thought was Paul Allen.

Really it doesn't have to be entirely one way or the other. He could have really done some murders and imagined others or he did commit certain murders but in Patrick's mind they happened a different way. The chainsaw scene with the hooker comes off that way. Somehow nobody heard any of that commotion. Then of course there's the rampage scene.

And yeah, the book is hardcore compared to the movie.

It's been a while since I reaad it, but not really. The book is even more ambigious because Patrick is an obvious unreliable narrator.
