so, i'm playing a Half-Elf Bard.
the thing is that he has high Charisma, while I, the player, pretty much don't at all. like, his Persusion is through the roof at a +13, so really, he should be the talker, the face of the group, etc but i'm not really that good at RolePlaying and improv, so it kind of goes against my whole comfort zone to act like that. but on the flipside, i also don't wanna be the guy who just goes "I want to persuade him to do the thing...i rolled 25" --- ... Just make shit up and do things "a bit zany" - can fit with a bard's shtick sometimes, depending. Compliments, flirting etc are all nice and bardy persuasions. Start off small and just build up your confidenec with it as you get used to the character and what they might do.
Just consider it sort of like acting I guess >.> --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah, just fake it til you make it
Your rolls will be good enough that the RP can be a little off while you get used to the character And eventually you'll get used to the RP and then the DC won't matter as much if the DM enjoys playing along RP is a skill like anything else. Some have the natural talent, but anyone can act if they try --- Alkaloid: It's just water in a cup. ... Copied to Clipboard!

This depends on your DM, but I usually run it as you say a thing, and because the dice said so, the inane thing you said was somehow persuasive enough.

Practice. Get out of your comfort zone a little bit every session, but don't go too wild. Do an accent and just embrace the nerdiness and goofiness, while knowing it isn't really you.

There's a lot of nonverbal things one does when attempting something Charismatic. Do you get within their bubble? Do you match their body language? Bat your eyes sweetly? You can describe your character doing things. Bonus points if it's something involving your other skills or stats, like doing a backflip or lifting something heavy and flexing and smiling, helping them with a philosophical quandary and not being smug about it, etc.

Think mostly about what HE would do. Don't feel embarrassed or weirded out about acting out in some way. I've had screaming matches with a player because we had a major disagreement (he killed someone I had safely grappled while I was a paladin so I was real pissed off in character). It was great.
Just get your head into the game and pretend to be someone else. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

You might want to play a different character then. Play something that fits more into your comfort zone.

so far, most of his character has been "is there an opportunity to make a joke here?"
coupled with "would it be funny if i did X?" hell, even his tragic "my parents are dead" backstory was only to give me an opportunity to do a joke later on through the Bardic Inspiration song which can be amusing, but it doesn't really a full character make --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
