I have friends who actually met (they are a couple) LARPing, and I have had quite a few who have talked about it etc. I never actually knew a group of people currently doing it though, so never got to play.

I'm very athletic/big, took martial arts, mountain climbed etc, and would have freaking loved it. I'm probably too old now though, but I'm gonna keep my eye out for a group I think.

I just wish VR (or AR (altered reality..where you still see the real world through glasses etc, but it adds things to it (monsters etc) that you can interact with) would hurry up and progress enough so we could start playing tons of RPGs etc through them in the real world...you know....before I get so old I have to use a walker or something to actually play them.

I did go to ren fairs though and fenced (or fought with a quarterstaff (Trained with a bo as one of my weapons eons ago), but that was about as close as I ever came....sadly. Havn't even been to a ren fair in over a decade:(

Lol, I mean, I'm sure there can be really nerdy versions. I totally get along with hard core nerds as well, love DnD, board games etc, but I would prefer people who actually have some weapon training etc, and have some fairly realistic combat (revolving around a game with stakes, characters we play etc).

Could be a serious blast, but I would like it to have a form of actual athletics involved.

But heck, I'd be down for just about any type. I'm certainly not in shape to be running all over etc and battling for hours anymore, but I could handle small skirmishes etc.

Oh, I understand completely what youre saying. Im sure you would love online gaming even more if we were at a Ready Player One level. Cause I know I would.

You wouldve loved these guys. They were nerds for sure but they were all about the fights. It wasnt like they stopped to say things like, I, Gwonzo the wizard of old, shall vanquish thee! Nope. They were just having a blast with weapons.

The shield bastard, though, would get down on one knee. He would place the shield down at an angle, and then when approached attacked with his sword. I almost wanted to just punch the guy, he was so smug.
