Its almost like theyve never played the game or forgot that Aeris death isnt the only plot twist. When you play rpgs, you are just so used to your guy being a super special chosen one from birth and whatnot, but final fantasy 7 spoilers cloud had to earn that chosen one position...he really was for all intent and purposes a non-special, unskilled mook. He had to go through a ton of development, get passed the mako poisoning, and a lot of psychological baggage for him to really get into the position to kick-ass and lead. Maybe I was the only who actually read the computer at the beginning of the game that had a throwaway line about GFs "causing possible memory loss, but nah probably not" and then seeing it featured in-game which I thought was cool for a jrpg back in the day. The thing that's really weird is that by the end of disc 2, Squall still did not develop any huge feelings for Rinoa and the gang were calling him heartless for not going to save her during the school battle, when he had to command the entirety of SeeD and couldn't focus on just one person (which honestly is understandable). And said gang kept pushing him "go save Rinoa, go save Rinoa!" Then weirdly at the very beginning of disc 3 he's like head over heels in love with her and talks about how he can't live without her. It's very jarring.
