I've never played a FF before but I played the VII Remastered demo and enjoyed it. Is XV similar combat wise?

XV's combat is like a worse version of the 7 remake's.

Eh, kinda. When you're hitting an enemy, it's sort of similar, but a bunch of other mechanics are pretty different.

They're almost identical, the difference is marginal.

That's not true. They're similar but they're quite different. 7 feels way more smooth and less clunky. The dodging in 15 is very weird. It's harder to transition. I just beat 15 today actually. Its...it's ok. It's completely average. It's fun but the story drags.

I enjoyed the game but one thing I didnt like about it was that as long as you had enough items, its impossible to die. Before the game over screen the game asks you if you want to heal yourself.

The magic system in it ass. Your entire team is melee orientated, and the spells you cast do more splash damage to your team than the enemy. Why friendly fire is enabled is beyond me.

Time is a funny thing. There is always too much of it, except when you need it the most. Then there is never enough.

Mixed opinions, but I already own the game so I guess I'll just try it myself then lol

impressions sound mixed, I already own a copy so I guess I'll just give it a shot myself. It's not the royal edition, but I'm guessing the only difference is that that version includes all the DLC? Is the DLC worth bothering with? (assuming I like the base game enough)

I couldn't get myself to like it, but I still finished it. Most people seem to agree the DLC is worth playing though, so if you play the game, might as well

Yeah you should play it. It was a dope game. Its only $10 in gamestop right now. $20 for the royal edition which has all the dlc and new content stuff. The story is really good, the graphics are the best in the series, it has cool music and characters, for the price you cannot really go wrong

FF7R's gameplay is nothing like FFXV's.

For starters, you can pretty much beat FFXV by holding down the attack button and chugging Potions.

If you want the main characters to actually have story arcs or backstories, then the DLC is worth it.

But if you don't care about character development or the story in general, then the base game is fine.

Literally untrue. They both utilise action oriented gameplay, rather than turn based. On approach of an enemy, the player character prepares for combat automatically. You can hold the attack button and the player character will unleash a basic combo until you stop pressing it. They both use a similar mechanic that pauses or slows down gameplay, so you can cast spells or use items (Wait/Classic mode). You can send commands to the characters you aren't controlling during combat. Summons become available when the game lets you use them, rather than deciding for yourself. After combat, the game switches you back to the main character and doesn't let you explore as the aliies. These are all things that apply to both games.

By this logic, "Classic" mode lets you beat the game without touching the controller.
