9/11 had absolutely no impact on my life. It didn't even really change the world much. American led invasions in the middle east would have happened anyway. The world wasn't some peaceful ideal place before 9/11. This is definitely the biggest thing to have happened in my lifetime.

9/11 was literally the only thing the news talked about for months. We'll see in a few months, I guess.

Also, the Berlin Wall was pretty big too. I dunno how big, since I was little then, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were 9/11 big.

I'd still say 9/11 and even the 2008 crash are bigger so far but this definitely has the potential. The two questions are

1. How many deaths (I guess a sub - question is how this changes our Healthcare system)

and

2. How this changes the economy and businesses

Definitely the biggest since 9/11. I haven't seen a complete structural change in every facet of society since that.

This, for now. But it's possible that the virus could be bigger as we see more deaths and more negative effects on the world.

I mean, as a Canadian, 9/11 impacted my life severely, and I know air traffic was canceled, but it was only for a few days.

We have whole countries now in quarantine. The social and economic vlowback from this is gonna make 9/11 look like a childs game; however, not all the changes will be bad. It's gonna reshape both landscapes in world shaking ways, however.

I'm not saying we oughtta take corona virus lightly. But its not nearly as deadly as spreadable things like ebola, aids, the black plague, leprosy etc. and the world got through those in much more primitive times. So it should be fine.

It very may will be if some of the estimates come to pass. When you hear shit from credible people saying 200,000 to over a million people dying, that kind of ends up trumping 9/11. If we get lucky and manage to keep it down at a horrible flu level like 50,000, even though that being more deaths you kind of have to give the edge to 9/11 when you add on to everything that happened after that. Multiple wars is probably bigger than 50,000 old people dying a few years before they were suppose to.

This is bigger than 9/11.

Right now I would say 9/11 remains the most sobering and newsworthy, but this pandemic looks to easily overcome it pretty soon.

Both will be in history books for many decades to come.

In a way I think this is more impactful than 9/11. Back then schools remained open, people still went to work, sports were only suspended for a week but society although taken aback didn't grind to a halt for as much as this did.

9/11 was a lot at once, but I think this is going to sustain a more impactful blow.

Dunno, dude. This is gonna be talked about for years, have far reaching implications that we cannot even begin to comprehend.

You don't effectively shut down the world without changes, for both good and bad, coming into play.

9/11 changed multiple aspects of this entire world, changes that have become the norm, changes we still feel to this day and will for awhile yet.

I understand why people think the Corona virus is bigger than 9/11. It's happening right now, we are living through it. It's hard to make a call because it's not over yet.

9/11 was massive, and more so based on where I live. Corona is a slow build. I'd still go with 9/11 because life changed for Americans in that instant. It has changed for Corona as well, but I'm unsure if things aren't back to normal on March 16, 2021. Hopefully they are, including the economy.

Yes, a simple American view, I play into the stereotype nicely.
