We still have not been put on mandatory lockdown here in WA. I heard during a trump adress yesterday (or was it friday, these days are melding together), that our gov will be doing a stay at home order on Monday. We will see later today I guess.

Someone said he was holding off because the Nat Guard was going to be taking things over as well (a few days ago).

I have no clue what it means that the Nat Guard is coming here? Will they be patrolling the streets? What is going to happen?

In the case of NY and LA, afaik the National Guard is working with FEMA, and the Army Corps of Engineers to deploy hospital ships and to seize empty dormatories and stadiums and the like to set up makeshift hospitals. Not sure what the plan is for Washington state.

From the trump address WA gov has been asking for the Nat Guard since before NY and way before CA (who just asked for it yesterday).

I had heard a few days ago (not a trusted source, just someone on the political chat room of the trump address) that Gov Inslee of Wa was NOT requiring a Stay at home order because he was instead working to get the Nat Guard to come in and take over.

Then in Trumps speech he did specifically say he was working with the Gov on WA to have the Nat guard come in first, before the other two states started asking for it, so it's probably true.

We have horrid testing here though, only 1 drive through testing station (that I know of, and my info could be behind a day), but initially I believe we had more cases than CA or NY (like a week ago), so who knows what we are at now.

Even if testing sucks there, at least its happening. Maybe its just me, but I probably just deployed the National Guard in request. Id probably start with the places that need them. And take request after, which might be why its only happening now. Id also let the state that requested know that they may go somewhere else if they are needed somewhere else. But thats because just requesting it doesnt mean you actually need it...

Yeah, again I think at the time the numbers here were the largest in the country, I could look back and check, but I think I remember that.

I do know when they finally started testing the numbers were not that bad, they tested 1000 and only 56 tested positive (that seemed kinda bad at the time, but compared to NY it's nothing).

I believe...god time is crazy right now, I think that was actually last monday, a full week ago!! Crazy.

We are now way behind many other states which have had stay at home orders issued already, so um, don't think this was a great idea waiting for the Nat guard. My roomate (one of them) is still going to work at Boing), tons of people are still going out and doing stuff, resteraunts are delivering food etc.

IF our numbers are anywhere near those in NY it must be spreading like crazy right now.

I suspect Cali and NY got first priority since California represents something like 1/6 of the country's agriculture and economy, and NYC is for all intents and purposes the modern day Rome.

Plus, it seems keeps doubling in NY everyday...

Texas is big, so I wouldnt be surprised if they came here. But I think its not too bad here, yet. Technically, we have lots of space for social distancing...
