Everytime someone finds out that I only have one pair of shoes I get roasted for it but I dont see the issue

I only buy shoes when my previous pair gets worn to the ground. So like every two years. But apparently that isnt normal

Nope! I buy a set of boots every couple of years also. Wear them everywhere, and until they fall apart. But yes, most people think that's a bit odd.

I don't think it's weird, I only wear 1 pair normally also (I have a second one but those are work shoes so I don't really count those), I hardly even notice people's shoes so if people normally have like 5+ pairs as far as I go it's a waste since I don't even pay attention to that lol

No...but it's good to have shoes for different occasions:

sports
running
dress/fancy events like weddings (and at least 2 different colors)
work
casual every day shoes
shoes for dirty jobs like painting..

etc etc

How so? I pretty much only ever have 2 pairs of shoes. My daily wear shoes (usually something like high top Jordan's) and then my shoes for sports/working out.

I typically wear my shoes until they start looking old/falling apart and then buy new ones.

Yeah for the most part. I get shoes that are generic looking without any colors. For example the ones I have now are these:

Exactly. Who is actually paying attention to what your shoes look like

My roommate bought me a pair of new shoes for Christmas because she felt bad for me and thought I was too poor to buy shoes. Theyve been sitting in the back of my closet gathering dust since lmao

This is true

My last pair got ruined because I was taking senior pics in some fucking weeds. I forgot what theyre called but theyre the hard spiky little shits that stick to everything. But nooooo, the senior thought it would be cute to have photos taken in there!!

It was two days of walking in pain before I was able to get a new pair ._.

Not a good idea. You want multiple pairs with good cushioning to support your feet. Superstars are cool, but they are not soft enough.

I have like...50ish pairs, have not counted in forever, it may be creeping towards 70, who knows. But you want to rock different shoes as much as possible so you dont put too much pressure on the same parts of your feet every day. Get some ultraboosts

No, but I generally have a few pairs because of running shoes, gym (basketball) shoes, and then recently I bought a pair of nice dress shoes for a wedding.

I have a pair of dress shoes that I wear on rare occassion, an old pair of 'work shoes' and a pair of running shoes. I normally wear shoes out after three or four months, so I just keep one pair until that point and then buy another.

Don't you at least have different kinds of shoes? Like I have my regular tennis shoes, hiking shoes, and then dress shows, as well as a pair of sandals for the beach. What do you do when you have to go to a formal occasion for instance?

Yea, Covid-19 lives on your shoes for up to 5 days, so you have to have 6 shoes at minimum, get some Crocs, they're cheap and comfy.

At this current time I have three pairs of shoes I wear but oddly theyre all almost the exact same Adidas shoe. They vary in color to go with different things better: black, light grey, and a charcoal.

Also, to a comment earlier, I get comments all the time about my shoes so I know people pay attention to them. Funny though, the only reason I get the ones I do is because Ive always been an Adidas guy and theyre laceless, which its hard to find good ones for everyday wear from other brands without going for dress shoes or grandpa boat-shoes. So its nice it worked out to have Adidas make some nice ones. Otherwise theyre always like crocs or something not very substantial for all-around wear.

Oh, and to TC...I guess at the end of the day I was meaning to say it is only weird in that most people have different pairs for different situations or styles to dress for each occasion to not look in poor taste or meet requirements. In most situations though, one pair will work fine once youre out of school (cases can be made for suits, different work environments, etc).

Its not really weird to me considering my shoes could be one pair if I really wanted to just get by as such. I like a little variety though.

When I was younger and more active with school, sports, community events, etc. I basically needed af least 3-4 pairs of shoes and hiking boots. Everyday casual, dress, running, basketball, light boots for snow, and usually a pair of lighter summer shoes. Not to mention cleats.

I guess it depends...at this point in my life, I could probably get by with one pair but its nice to have a nicer pair when you need them, or a different color to look better with certain things.

Fashion is pointless, so I agree.

Give me one good pair of black running shoes. Once they're worn out they become my utility shoes.

I might get my arm twisted and have to buy a pair of black dress shoes that'll get worn once and then dry out and need to be replaced the next time I'm forced to wear dress shoes. And then there's my cheap kung fu slippers I wear around the house if you consider those shoes.

It's a bit odd for an adult to own only one pair of shoes.

I own 7 pairs of sneakers myself as I cycle them out to avoid damage. Most of them are cheap skate shoes I got at Ross.
