So sad how Jimmy's ruined Kim. Just another tally in the "Chuck was right" column. It was painful watching her do her best Jimmy impression.

She's fuckin nuts tho. I really thought she was about to ask Lalo for more money.

this has to be the end of kim/saul. lying, shitting on her dreams, and getting lalo into their house all happened in this episode alone.

actually i take it back
but the other way around. i could see Jimmy pushing Kim away and saying some horrible shit to keep her away. Something akin to Chucks youve never really matter all that much to me. He wants to keep her out of danger, but itll be too little too late.
Like he says, I dont know how to build shit. Im excellent at tearing it down.

So does this series take place entirely before Breaking Bad?

I tried the first Season but there was something very off to me about a thriller where I know the main dude has to survive all the way to the next series.

Uhh isn't that true of basically every TV show? Most shows don't kill the main character until the end of the series.

Each season has a flash forward to what Saul is upto after Breaking Bad but that's it. So the show itself tells you that he's still alive, they know there's no tension about him dying. The show does a good job of introducing a bunch of other characters who weren't in Breaking Bad and their fates are unknown. It's the other characters you need to worry about!

there are definitely more parts of BCS that i find tedious compared to breaking bad. the slide is so slow and meticulous.

that said, some of the payoffs are really worth it, and the minor characters are good. (my favorites are actually the recurring characters, like the film crew, or nice old irene.)

Nacho/Lalo situation will likely wrap up next season, leading to the situation Saul references at the beginning of Breaking Bad

I'm thinking tonight will focus on Saul/Kim and Lalo/Fring storylines.

good point about that. i think saul has seen the last of lalo, but probably not the last of nacho. i still think lalo is a good bet to die, but i could be wrong!

throwaway comment saul makes in his first episode, when walt/jesse take him out to the desert and threaten him

BB also confirms that the salamanca clan is extinct, which makes it a guarantee that lalo dies either this season or the next. but he definitely has to have something to blame nacho for, agreed

A slower episode than the previous two but still really compelling TV. I thought when Kim was looking at the files she was going to use them to do some kind of research that would help Jimmy.

I absolutely love that last shot of Jimmy, looking stunned at what Kim has become, and the way it was essentially the reverse of the last shot of season 4. It was a little annoying to me that they chose not to mirror it and ended on Terminator-Lalo with a game face instead.

^posted on the TV board.

Also, Nacho is so screwed.

Eeehhhh I kinda thought so. The last two episodes really raised the bar so I expected more of a payoff in the finale. Most of us probably expected the title ("Something Unforgivable") to reference a direct action in the episode, not a far-off plan.

I kinda took the "Something Unforgivable" to also be Those mercs kills everyone in Lalo's compound.

I think this episode would have worked better as a Season 6 premier instead of a Season 5 finale. Lalo and Nacho driving off to Mexico was a better cliffhanger.

But yeah it was kind of a strange finale. I think narratively a lot of pins dropped though, which makes sense. It's just that it opened a lot more questions than it answered. Appropriate for a penultimate series finale I think. But now we have to wait 3 more years for the last season??

This episode was basically the Hank finding the Leaves of Grass while on the shutter moment of BCS. Nachi is exposed and Kim has officially broken bad. This sets up the stakes for the final season perfectly, and I can't fucking wait. Hopefully Covid doesn't have too much of an impact on the production schedule

The show's been officially renewed for the final season, right? I think that was the major contractual hurdle which delayed this season so long... but if you're referring to delays brought on by COVID... yeah who the hell knows. =/
