I genuinely hate the N word. Its the most pearl clutching word in existence right now.

People use it to refer to males.

People use it to refer to another person.

People use it to refer to someone they affiliate with.

I find myself using the "A" ending version of the word when with large groups of friends. But when I use it, its usually in substitution for the word "fool" or "motherfucker" like: "This motherfucker done fucked up" or "This fool said what now?"

I'm trying to stop cuz I know if it comes out in a professional setting I'm toasted. The thing is, my large groups of friends are super diverse. Black, Latino, Indian, Asian, Persian, Gay...you name it, its probably in there. Being white I'm actually the minority in my group. But, all my close friends I hang out with are from the MMA community, I've known most since college. Its group behavior, that is acceptable. I think because we picked up alot of the dialect from hip-hop music, and the bad communities we grew up in.

But...man...those slip of tongues are killer. I've gotten way better over the last few years, but when I'm in that circle of friends...it still just flows out. Its tough to unlearn bad habits. I try to say watch the other slip of the tongues like "thats so gay" and the such...but also just stupid things like "thats hella cool" or " whats up yo"

You enter a professional world where people don't know you. For me, being white, and working in Silicon Valley most people assume I grew up privilege, failing to realize I grew up in a primarily mexican ghetto in south phoenix. My surrounding neighboorhood was 75% Mexican, 20% Black, and 5% white like myself. I grew up speaking fucking Spanish and going to my friend's quinceanera...but now working in Silicon Valley tech if I say anything that could potentially be taken as anti-liberal I'm accused of being a Trump Supporter.

As is life...gotta adapt. So far I've avoided any incidents, but boy, is it my worst nightmare.

I mean, it was in poor taste for sure. But what would have been the context to saying it in a derogatory manner? Like, was there a black person who he was upset with? Sounds like maybe he just substituted it for the word "fuck" - in which case thats kind of racist. But sounds like he was laughing at it...so he thought it was funny, just like ever 12 year old on X-Box Live.

He's still going to get in heat for it, as he should. But, its hard to tell if he's a racist or not for it.

The last time a guy did his, he was suspended for two races and came back. But he was a no name who drove for himself and had no real sponsorship.

Larson runs for one of the most well-known owners in the entire racing world and has sponsors like McDonald's and Coca-Cola. He will race again, but this is going to significantly damper his future career.
