On a certain website that I believe we're not allowed to mention by name, I have gone back and found a list of all 104 of your archived posts on Board 8. Let's review.

First off, here's a good one which I find ironic, given your current stance about how offended you are by what I posted:

Yes, I agree Tim. People downplaying the Coronavirus because they might not personally be affected by it is terrible. It's almost like I had a similar thought and made a post about that. Let's fast forward.

April 1st, 10:32 AM, Politics Containment Topic 288: "Jesus christ" in response to a post from me reading "One good thing I'll say about the quarantine is that it's nice to see obnoxious, privileged "conservative" white dudes actually having to experience hardship for the first time in their lives, and complaining about how it's unfair that the actions of society negatively impact them for once."

While I understand your annoyance, given that you already dislike me and didn't seek out the context behind the statement because you automatically believed the worst about what I said and you're not intellectually ambitious enough to learn new information that doesn't confirm your pre-existing biases, allow me to provide context anyway.

Those people you were complaining about in that earlier post I quoted? Yeah, I don't know if you just ignore their messages because they're "conservatives" and thus you guys are all on the same team and can never level criticism towards one another at any time...but there are posters in the politics topics named SmartMuffin and SephirothG. Their whole MO is generally the whole libertarian mindset of "I don't give a shit about the negative impacts of issue X, Y, or Z, because it doesn't negatively affect ME", usually in a racist, sexist, homophobia, or just generally anti-liberal fashion because, well, let's face it...conservatives don't have any ideology other than "liberals=bad".

With regards to the coronavirus, we've had a great deal of lockdowns and quarantines, and a lot of shopping has ceased and businesses are shuttering their doors for the time being. In response to this, while people like you, Tim, are out working hard and catching the coronavirus as a result of having a hands-on job, these entitled little douchebags, who have never experienced any REAL hardship of any kind, have recently taken to the politics topics to whine about how the quarantine is infringing on their civil rights, or it's negatively impacting their portfolio, or they can't go out to their favorite bar on a Friday night. While there are people genuinely suffering and afflicted by the Coronavirus (yourself included, remember), their concern is the petty, minor impact on their already safe and privileged lives.

MY post was specifically directed to the fact that, said douchebags, who have a LONG history of sneering whenever the very THOUGHT of having empathy towards the plight of others, are now bitching and moaning and whining because, for the first time in their privileged lives, they're experiencing (a VERY minimal) level of hardship, and suddenly we as a society need to drop EVERYTHING to reset society to the way it was for THEM. My point was that the Coronavirus sucks. It sucks to get sick. It sucks to worry about your relatives getting sick or potentially dying. It sucks that, even if everything is safe and healthy, the quarantine IS causing hardships. But at the very least, those smug assholes are experiencing the EXACT same hardship as everyone else for once in their lives, and their whining provides a modicum of schadenfreude.

The hate shown by liberals here is really something. It used to only be directed at conservatives and we would have claims that somehow every one of the people with even a slightly conservative outlook here was a troll and arguing in bad faith. But now the liberals have turned on each other as well and basically denounced everyone on the other side of the Bernie/Biden divide.

I think people are just incapable of understanding that other people can reasonably come to different conclusions than they do, without being evil.

I mean, SephG is able to work remotely and has the means to rent out an AirBNB in Utah or Wyoming or somewhere for a couple months. This was discussed weeks ago when he first began complaining about not being able to go out. He chose to stay in New York despite that, so it's hard for me to feel that he has been so damaged by the stay-at-home orders. Clearly not that damaged.

That's exactly my point, Red Sox. SephyG is NOT suffering under quarantine. His life is pretty goddamn sweet, and at worst, he's kinda cooped up in his apartment for a while. So are a lot of us. So am I. To me, it is amusing to see someone like him, someone who really doesn't have to struggle with ANYTHING in society, suddenly experiencing the most MINOR hardship imaginable ("My favorite bar was closed down due to quarantine! This is ridiculous!"), and now quarantine is the most earth-shattering and awful event he has experienced in his lifetime. And not only that, but because he has been MINORLY inconvenienced, this is government overreach, the government is turning into a fascist dictatorship, we should have the freedom to put our own lives at risk, old people should be willing to die to protect the economy (this one is Fox News, but Fox News is the SephyG of cable news networks).

It's amusing to see the kinds of people who, under normal circumstances, are living safe, happy lives and yet still feel the need to comment on and disparage the suffering of others (suffering that they themselves are not experiencing, and thus they don't care), suddenly HAVING a situation where there is a negative impact on THEIR lives, and no matter how minor, that negative impact is a world-shattering experience that needs to be addressed IMMEDIATELY.

I think hate speech has a specific definition in most peoples minds that isnt just speech that is hateful

like no one would suggest if I hated my brother and stabbed him because of it that I had committed a hate crime

i think it would be healthy for people to actually practice self reflections about their attacks on people instead of just trying to duck responsibility through semantics

is it the legal definition of hate speech? maybe not. was it hateful language and attitudes that arent okay by tolerant standards? yeah. i dont see the issue in pointing that out. maybe im wrong and we should just let everyone be horrible to everyone though if that what the board thinks is okay.

in the past i would say its absolutely hilarious that the same predictable people are making the same predictable stupid comments and posts but honestly after the amount of time these people have spent being this way i cant even laugh any more. its just saddening. im not entirely sure what causes people to be that way for like a decade plus on a chat forum, but id imagine its a nasty cocktail of loneliness, zero self esteem in the offline world, and some significant mental illness. again, in the past i would laugh because of the predictability of it. now i would just encourage you all to reach out to a therapist or someone in a professional clinical setting that you can talk to before spending your entire life being this way on GameFaqs
